An Inspired Chat with Jamie Seward

We recently had the chance to connect with Jamie Seward and have shared our conversation below.

Jamie, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: When was the last time you felt true joy?
I would say the last time I felt ‘true joy’ was over Thanksgiving. My two kids are away at college, and just having them both home, together, was absolutely priceless. It wasn’t just having them home, but the ability to hug them both and watch them interact—seeing them laugh and genuinely get along. Those moments, when the house is full and everyone is happy and together, are truly the best.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jamie Seward, and I’m the owner of Repeat Roses. We’re an eco-conscious luxury partner dedicated to ensuring beautiful event flowers have a meaningful second life—all while providing value back to our clients.

What We Do: The Repeat Roses Difference
We take the magnificent floral arrangements from weddings, galas, and corporate events and lovingly transform them into smaller, charming arrangements. We then deliver this fresh beauty to non-profits, hospitals, and assisted living facilities, spreading joy to those who need it most.

What makes us truly unique is our commitment to a full-circle solution:

Donation & Recycling: We ensure the flowers are enjoyed twice. After the donation period, we return to the site to responsibly collect and compost the twice-enjoyed blooms.

Tax Benefit for Clients: We secure a formal receipt from the receiving non-profit, which we provide to our clients. This receipt validates their in-kind donation, allowing them to potentially offset the original flower cost when filing their tax returns.

Our Story & What We’re Working On
Repeat Roses was originally planted in 2014 but, like many businesses, faced a difficult time during the pandemic. I took ownership and have been passionately focused on replanting our roots and blossoming ever since.

My mission is to marry the celebratory beauty of events with genuine community impact. We are constantly expanding our network of clients and non-profits, ensuring that every single exquisite event arrangement becomes a source of light, love, and a significant environmental reduction in waste.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment that profoundly shaped how I see the world happened on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

At the time of the climb, I was going through an intensely difficult personal period, and the physical challenge of the ascent mirrored the emotional struggle I was facing. It was truly humbling, incredibly difficult, and there were many times I wanted to quit.

The journey taught me one simple, universal truth: You only get where you are going by putting one foot in front of the other.

This lesson became my enduring perspective:

Keep Going: When facing a struggle or a seemingly insurmountable challenge, I now remember the mountain. You don’t have to see the whole path, you just have to keep moving and never quit.

The Reward: The view from the summit was worth every single step, and it showed me that perseverance always pays off.

Embrace the Journey: While the summit—the goal—is the reward, I realized that the real transformation happens on the way up. The challenging, day-by-day effort, the struggle, and the steps themselves are just as valuable as the ultimate destination.

Now, whenever I face a challenge, I simply start putting one foot in front of the other.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could go back and say just one kind thing to my younger self, it would be this:

“Trust your instincts, especially when it comes to people. That knot in your stomach? That slight hesitation? It’s your inner wisdom speaking, and it is almost always right.”

I would tell myself to truly believe that feeling when something doesn’t sit right or when a person causes me to doubt my own worth or judgment. Don’t rationalize it away, don’t try to change them, and don’t try to “fix” the situation.

Instead, trust that gut feeling, believe it completely, and confidently move on. You will save yourself a lot of heartbreak and lost time by honoring your own intuition.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
The cultural value I protect at all costs is integrity.

For me, integrity is more than just honesty; it is the alignment between what you say, what you do, and what you believe. It is the foundation upon which trust, accountability, and true ethical leadership are built.

I believe that without unwavering integrity, all other values and accomplishments are built on shifting sand.

Why It’s Non-Negotiable:
Foundation of Trust: Integrity is the currency of any relationship, whether with a client, a colleague, or a customer. It ensures that commitments are honored and that I, or my organization, can be relied upon, even when things are difficult.

Ethical Consistency: It means making the right decision even when no one is watching and even when it’s the harder choice. This consistency ensures that actions are always guided by a strong moral compass.

Empowerment: Protecting integrity fosters a culture where people feel safe to speak the truth, admit mistakes, and take responsibility, which is crucial for learning and growth.

In every situation, I default to integrity, knowing that sacrificing it for any short-term gain is a catastrophic long-term loss.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I truly hope people tell about me when I’m gone centers on two things: the relationships I cherished and the spirit with which I lived.

The Core Connection
First and foremost, I hope they remember me as a good mother, friend, sister, and daughter. My deepest priority was always showing up for the people I loved, nurturing those bonds, and making sure they felt supported and seen.

The Defining Spirit
Beyond those roles, I hope they tell a story about resilience, grit, and grace.

Life inevitably throws huge, often devastating, challenges our way. I hope people say that when I faced those moments, I didn’t crumble. I hope they saw that I always held my head up high and moved through the toughest times with both unyielding grit—the determination to keep going—and grace—the ability to maintain composure, kindness, and faith even when things felt impossible.

Ultimately, I want my story to be one of enduring love and quiet strength.
