Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kimberly Kelly

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kimberly Kelly . Check out our conversation below.

Kimberly , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
I’ve put imaginary deadlines and restrictions on myself being in the music business— or should I say, have had limitations imposed on me by the mindset of a lot of people in the industry. With the growth of social media, things that an artist, a woman especially, would have considered negatives, are actually positives that make you more relatable to an audience— age and being a mother.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a Texas-born country artist proving that country music has no set timeline. I’m embracing my own path, sharing music that’s authentic to myself, my journey, and a belief that it’s never too late to follow your dreams. I’m traditionally rooted, but fearlessly modern.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The legendary outlaw singer-songwriter Billy Joe Shaver was the first person of stature in the music world that really built me up as a songwriter and artist- followed by Toby Keith.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Every other day!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That you can’t have children or get older. I’ve believed that, but the way the fans consume their content these days proves people don’t always pay attention to those things!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
My joy.
