Stephanie Wells of Albuquerque on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Stephanie Wells. Check out our conversation below.

Stephanie, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I make so many funny memes and jokes about being a Brazilian waxer. While that is a huge service that I do the most of, I also specialize in full body waxing and brow services. I also offer spray tanning, custom facials and chemical peels, and tinting services.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a solo esthetician and have been practicing since 2017. In 2022, I opened my own business called Citrus Skin Bar. I specialize in full body waxing, brow services, chemical peels, facials, and spray tanning. I am currently attending classes at our community college to pursue a degree in Registered Nursing. Having an RN license will allow me to grow further as an esthetician. In my three years of business I’ve written an ebook on how to obtain and maintain an active clientele, and won top 5 best in the city of Albuquerque for best esthetician. Milestones I am very proud of myself for.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Being a people pleaser and constantly saying yes. I used to be worried about letting others down and disappointing them. I’ve now learned it’s okay to obtain healthy boundaries so that I do not spread myself too thin. Avoiding burn out is crucial in being a recovering people pleaser.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that I have to keep going. I could either let the hard times define me as an adult, or I could remain a victim and let them control my narrative. I chose to be a survivor and write my own story. I attribute my success to living in a positive mindset and remaining strong when life gives me tests.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes absolutely. I identify as someone who has confidence and I do not care about the opinions other people may have about myself. Though I am extroverted online and share things about myself, I also keep a lot of things private. I am always keeping it real in everything I do and have no shame about the things I have been through.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I do not engage or spend time around people who cause drama. I love spending time at the spa and going on vacations with my husband. I also love a day off with my phone on do not disturb and spending time in nature.
