We recently had the chance to connect with Tanja Aelbrecht and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Tanja, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Slow coffee mornings with my hubby. I get spoild every morning with a fancy americano made with fresh ground coffee.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Tanja. I work in SEO and co-own Chunky Squirrel Services, a website company that offers design, development work and SEO services. Currently I work with a lot of small business owners that want to understand SEO better and get a one-off head start. It’s fun, as I don’t believe in holding back “SEO secrets” (they don’t exists) and I get to see people’s businesses grow.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I used to think everyone has to like me. Luckily that’s no longer the case.
What other people think of us, is none of our business!
I’m not for everyone and that’s ok.
The same goes for business! While we still serve a wide range of different types of businesses, sometimes we’re just not a good fit and we’ll refer to other folks.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of failure. If you don’t try, you can’t fail.
But if you don’t try, you don’t succeed either.
Fear of failure can easily be a paralysing process.
Luckily I’ve worked on embracing the failures as lessons. The most valuable teachings happen in failure.
Maybe failure doesn’t even exist and it’s just a part of the journey.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! The older I get the more comfortable I am at just putting it all out there. It’s quite liberating.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
The easy access to information. It’s much easier to email me than to have to compare sources online and not know who to trust with SEO questions. 🙂
