Story & Lesson Highlights with Ashley Piasecki of Pittsburgh region

Ashley Piasecki shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Ashley, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I typically wake up around 5:30AM but stay in bed until 6- that’s when my son shows up to start the morning! I let Jack outside , my dog, make coffee and sit at my island to go through emails and work on any action items I have for projects. I start making breakfast and school lunch promptly at 7 and leave for school drop off at 7:35. That’s a typical morning during the school year.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Ashley Marie Piasecki, the founder and creative mind behind AMP Home Design- a design studio dedicated to transforming everyday spaces into inspired, functional, and beautifully personalized environments. With a deep passion for architecture, interior design, and visual storytelling, I help homeowners reimagine the spaces they live in through thoughtful planning, customized solutions and elevated style.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents but in particular my mom. From a young age, I saw her approach everything with intention, pride and quiet strength. She taught me details matter, effort matters and how you make people feel matters most of all.
My mom had a natural creativity that influenced me long before I ever realized design would be my career. She had an instinct for creating warmth in a room and a way of turning ordinary spaces into something welcoming.
Her influence is woven into my work and in many ways she is the foundation for everything I do- the reason I pour so much heart into helping others create spaces they’re proud to call home.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You don’t have to have everything figured out yet. Be patient with your journey. You’re doing better than you think and you’re becoming someone you’ll be proud of.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Good design has to be expensive- false. Expensive design isn’t always good and good design isn’t always expensive. Creativity, problem-solving and vision matter far more than price tags. Also that material choices should impress other designers. Many choices in the industry are made for Instagram, not real people. I feel the best designers choose what works for the client- not what wins likes.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I lived with heart. That I paid attention- to spaces, to beauty, to details- but more importantly, to people.
I hope my son says I paid attention- not just to homes and design, but to him- his feelings, his ideas, stories and growing heart. I hope he says I showed him what strength looks like and that he saw me work hard, build things from nothing, navigate challenges with courage and chase my dreams so he’d know he could chase his too.
I hope I’m remembered as a woman who worked with her hands, dreamed with her heart and made the world more beautiful- but who made his world feel like home.
