Alondra Taveras shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Alondra, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
i recently had my annualish visit with my mom in florida. going back home will always be a good test that will indicate to you where you’re at in your healing journey with those parental wounds. to my surprise, i ended up spending way more time with her than usual ( 5 weeeks!), i was able to see her and her flaws with compassion even when they harm me, and i was able to catch myself in the moments i needed to ground my boundaries to not crash out. this was mayor progress and i felt hella proud of myself and her for that matter. none of us are perfect but we’re not who we use to be either.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
so i grew up christian/catholic so my first forms of divination was with a bible. i remember being in middle school walking to my bus after school in the roundabout. my bus was always close to the end because i lived far away. it was winter and it had recently snowed. i was a terribly shy kid, was bullied often, and had a hard time standing up for myself. some of my bullies were snickering and plotting to throw snow balls behind me. i had recently learned about the power of prayer and started calling on protection over myself. what was a few minutes walked started to feel eternal as i looked for my bus to find safety. i could see the snowballs falling all around me but none of them hit me. i never looked back nor sped up my pace. i just remained grounded in my prayer to make it safely onto my bus.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
as a survivor of child rape & molestation this is not only a wound i carry but one that lives deeply in my lineage as a first generation child of the diaspora. my entire line of work revolves around healing this wound. my womb healing course is a culmination of all the practices that have supported me for over ten years. as we know it, healing is not linear so i continue to meet them in the many layers that unfold within me. from meditation rituals, ceremonial circles, many lifestyle changes, all in the name of eliminating the stigma around publicly facing this generational trauma. my cohorts bring me a different level of healing because there is so much power in processing our stories together. being a reiki master has been one of my favorite tools to use and as i teach others the medicine i receive from other folks testimonies is simply incomparable.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
this is an excellent question because I recently asked my followers what they thought about me. The most consistent response was authenticity. I am great at being my true self no matter who’s watching. I will share every bit of my story the good the bad and the ugly I’m actually a terrible liar. LOL it’s really important for me in my healing work to let people know that no matter how hard life has been you can still find joy and peace through your healing.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
i’m in the beginning stages of writing a book and redirecting my niche audience to Queer, Dominican/Caribbean, Millennials, Femmes/Women of the Diapora who identify as the black cats of the family carrying the weight of ending pillar ancestral patterns. this book will come with not just my story but others that relate plus self help tips to support the reader. after the book i have visions of a documentary, healing circle tour and dedicated retreats to nurture each other. i believe we need to be more connected with each other in our unique experience as we define what chosen family can look like. my ancestors are now screaming at me to get this done! if i die and dont do this work i might have to come back another lifetime and i actually just wanna be a rich house cat.
