We recently had the chance to connect with Kate ODonnell and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kate, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
paddleboarding on the ocean!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Kate is a nationally certified Ayurvedic Practitioner, senior yoga teacher, and the author of multiple Ayurvedic books including The Everyday Ayurveda Guide to Self-Care and The Everyday Ayurveda Cookbook: A Seasonal Guide to Eating and Living Well. She studied in India for twenty years and continues to travel there annually for study. She is a contributor to many publications including Yoga Journal, Women’s Health Magazine, and NPR. She teaches trainings, cooking classes, seasonal cleanses, retreats, and online programs when she isn’t practicing yoga or having a chai.
The Ayurvedic Living Institute is an online space for the transmission of Ayurveda in ways both traditional and modern.
Through individual learning, group work, and teacher student relationship, we make classical Ayurvedic lifestyle and diet principles accessible to people in all stages of life and all geographies. It is our belief that the knowledge must be embodied consistently, and integrated into daily life for the best results, therefore we offer programming that is practical and supportive.
We are committed to continuing to evolve with our students as our collective journey with Ayurveda cultivates optimal quality of life, and a clear view of reality.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I am invincible.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Parasitic infections from India, and Ayurveda healed them over a 5-10 year intensive period.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Pretty much except I tend towards depression when its cloudy and cold. I don’t tend to make videos about that!
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
Spending money on luxury travel experiences.
