We’re looking forward to introducing you to Vanessa McCaffrey. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Vanessa, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What battle are you avoiding?
I’ve been fighting to break the chains that were forged long before me — the silent battles of my generation, where depression and substance abuse run deep in our roots. It’s not just about healing myself, but about rewriting the story that was handed down, choosing awareness over avoidance, and strength over escape. Every day is a small rebellion against what tried to define us.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Vanessa McCaffrey, I came from a creative back ground with my mom in the arts and so naturally I became a singer-songwriter playing the blues all over the world, opening for bands like ” Queen” “The Lumineers” “Cold play.” She’s also a mother, believer, real estate agent, and surfer — someone whose heart is rooted in connection and service.
Her love language is to serve; she finds joy in showing up for her family, friends, and clients in meaningful ways. Vanessa often says she’s “the stool that helps others reach for the stars” — a simple truth that captures her grounded nature and her passion for helping others rise. Through her music, her work, and her life, she leads with love, creativity, and genuine care for the people around her.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Having my children are moments the most powerful I have ever felt. Assistant god in the miracle of life, and vessel that gives life — that was a moment I often go back to whenever I feel in need of remembering my power.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Wild question — I think it makes you look in the mirror and tests how much you really want it. And in that you have two paths you can go for it, knowing the bumpy road ahead, or not and sparing yourself from whatever struggle leads. I think its managing the steps now, but also know that you may be also two hammers away from finding the light at the end of that tunnel
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Thinking too much! You are not going to have all the answers, but if your 70% in just go for it!
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I’ve been told I’m “too pushy” or “too alpha.” What’s funny is that today, even though we’re supposedly “woke” enough to accept women in business, the world still isn’t used to being pushed by us. I’ve had countless male vendors in my career tell me I’m too demanding—but if I were a man, I’d be celebrated as a shark.
My response? “Sorry your feelings got hurt, I’m here to win for my clients!” If I were a man, I’d be seen as a boss. But as a woman, it’s somehow a different story. And that’s exactly why I keep pushing. Because winning for my clients isn’t a gendered activity—it’s my job.
