An Inspired Chat with Armando Colls of Florida

Armando Colls shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Armando, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I chase simplicity — the brief alignment of light, texture, and stillness that reveals the essence of a landscape. My work is about patience and slowing down rather than pursuit.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
After borrowing a camera a little over a decade ago I found my passion in chasing light and the amazing simplicity of Nature. Completely self taught, learning all of my techniques by watching other photographers and photo editors on You Tube

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
Lone backpacking thru Petra, the Wadi Rum desert and most recently a 120 mile hike across Spain on the Camino de Santiago. Time spent slowly walking and feeling ones heartbeat slow down to match that of the scenery that Mother Nature is offering.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
After finding my passion in photography I began exhibiting my work at local art shows. The feeling of standing on front of my work(passion) and having hundreds of people judge it in real time is humbling to say the least. Sometimes after a few hours I question the reason we work so hard in putting the exhibit together……….. but then the “fire” burns even hotter to continue chasing the light and sharing it with those willing to “slow down” and take it in.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
To simplify everything around me

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I was born to hold a camera while waiting for Mother nature to light my scene perfectly
