Stellah Kay of Las Vegas on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Stellah Kay and have shared our conversation below.

Stellah, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Self-confidence and self-love. Being able to really feel those things in the core of who I am is so powerful!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Stellah Kay. I’m a doctor of mental health, currently overseeing a residential facility for teens with mental health concerns. We take kiddos that aren’t safe enough to be in their home/community settings and help equip them and their families with tools to reintegrate safely back into the community. I am also a model! I have been modeling for 20 years, and am currently signed with Urban Talent as my mother agency. I am venturing into acting work with the agency, and excited to start a new challenge with building my acting skill set.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I remember being in elementary school and kids in my neighborhood teasing me about my weight. I didn’t know it at the time, but so many people in the world project their feelings on to others, which can make it less painful to sit with their own feelings about themselves. As I got older and still holding on to the wounds of being teased, I learned how much society places value on what we see externally of people, and how this creates such a disconnect with people being able to embody themselves as a whole person (inside and out). Being where I am now in life, I really bring intention to creating a life for myself and those I love, that focuses on balancing the internal and external- this is where I’ve seen my life truly become more fulfilling!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You have so much strength just waiting to be unlocked. Allow yourself to do things the right way, even though it may be the harder way, so that you can learn how strong, resilient, and beautiful you are inside and out. That will begin the reshaping of how you talk to yourself and truly love yourself.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
100%! I’m a goofball and a people person, so I bring that to all my pursuits and interactions. I love to share my passions and wins with others, in addition to the struggles that come with those. The struggles are the real part of life that have helped shape me. I no longer put on a mask around others- who I am is worthy of the world meeting her!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I have a few happy places that bring peace! When I’m working out- it really helps to settle my mind and boost that serotonin. When I’m barefoot in my garden and tending to my plants- currently I have a strong tomato plant that survived the summer- talk about resilience! When I’m listening to music- it drowns out all the external noise and helps me to recenter into myself. And when I’m spending time with my twins- they are such a bright spot in my life and always make me want to be a better person.
