We were lucky to catch up with Dread Rackz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dread , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
For this i gotta go head and Give it to my Mom and Dad, They honestly both taught me so much and i carry every ounce of it in every step i take in my journey.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
So I go by DreadRackz — I’m an independent artist shaping my own lane in the Alternative Trap and Underground Hip-Hop world. What makes my work unique is that I’m fully hands-on: I write, record, and produce all my own vocals. Everything you hear is built straight from my energy, my experiences, and the environments I come from. There’s no middleman in my process — just pure creativity and honesty.
My music blends melody, raw emotion, street influence, and that plugged-in, futuristic sound that the underground is leaning into right now. What excites me most is being able to create a vibe that listeners can feel instantly — whether it’s motivation, pain, ambition, or that elevated, in-my-zone glow. I try to make every track cinematic, like you’re stepping into my world for a few minutes!!!!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Consistency
In music, consistency is everything — not just dropping songs, but showing up for yourself even on the days when the inspiration isn’t there.
2. Self-Reliance (Being Hands-On)
Being able to write, record, and shape my own vocals gave me freedom. I didn’t have to wait on a team or rely on other people to bring my ideas to life.
3. Having an Ear for Growth
I had to learn how to step back, study myself, and improve without letting ego get in the way.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
ooo ooo o In the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been learning how to be intentional with everything I create.
Before, I used to move off pure energy — whatever I felt in the moment, I recorded. Now I’m more focused on structure, storytelling, and elevating the quality of every drop. I’ve gotten sharper with my writing, more precise with my vocal delivery, and way more locked in on the technical side of recording.
Another big improvement has been my discipline and consistency. I’m treating music like a craft and a career — not just something I do, but something I build. That shift has helped me create better music, faster, and with a clearer vision.
Lastly, I’ve grown a lot in understanding my sound and trusting it. I’m not chasing trends or trying to fit in a lane — I’m building my own. That confidence in my identity as an artist has been a major game changer.
