Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kinnady Lostra. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Kinnady, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from the people who raised me. My parents had me when they were young college students, building a future for themselves and their family. That’s when they began the journey that would grow into the Lostra Empire that it is today.
Being raised by strong, resilient, and hardworking parents showed me not just how to work, but why it matters to put your whole heart into what you do.
Through my support system and hard work, , my own business Lostra Esthetics, has quickly built a reputation (Awarded #1 Day Spa in Elko County 2025) for delivering high-quality skincare services and result-driven treatments.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Kinnady Lostra,
A proud Elko, Nevada native, I began my journey in skincare with a strong foundation in science and a passion for helping others feel confident in their own skin. In 2018, I moved to Reno to attend the University of Nevada, Reno, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2021.

Following graduation, I began working at the Skin Cancer & Dermatology Institute, where I discovered my true calling in skincare. Inspired by the impact I could make, I enrolled at the Milan Institute in Reno to pursue formal training in esthetics. After graduating, I began offering skincare services in Reno, where I refined my skills and deepened my expertise.

In early 2024, I felt the pull of my hometown and made the heartfelt decision to return to Elko. There, I launched Lostra Esthetics—a space dedicated to helping others feel beautiful, confident, and cared for.

Located in the heart of Elko, Lostra Esthetics has quickly built a reputation for delivering high-quality skincare services and results-driven treatments. My unique combination of higher education, hands-on experience, and genuine passion allows me to approach skincare with both scientific knowledge and personalized care.

At Lostra Esthetics, the mission is simple: to help every client feel comfortable and radiant in their own skin. With a loyal and growing clientele, I continue to raise the bar for skincare in my community—one glowing face at a time.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three biggest takeaways I’ve learned on this journey are:
1. Always put God first. He is our foundation and will always guide you toward your true purpose. Have faith through every high and low.
2. Never view losses or failures as negatives. They’re simply redirections toward what’s meant for you. Don’t give up — dust yourself off and keep going until something clicks. Learn from your mistakes; that’s where growth happens. Education is everything. Knowledge is power. Don’t be afraid to learn new methods, skills, and perspectives.
3. Lead with compassion. In a world that can be cold and cutthroat — especially in the beauty industry — choose to be the light. Be kind to everyone you meet; you never know their story. Be a safe space. Support others in the same field. Don’t view the person beside you as competition, but as someone you can learn from, grow with, and uplift. Empower one another by encouraging shared goals, inspiring new ideas, and supporting each other’s development.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

My biggest area of growth over the past 12 months has been my self-confidence. I’ve done a lot of internal work this year and have grown not only in my business, but physically, spiritually, and emotionally. I’ve finally started believing in myself and coming into my own—showing up authentically, staying true to what I love, and not chasing trends, just following what genuinely brings me joy.
I’ve always struggled with anxiety and the constant feeling that I wasn’t good enough, even when I was doing everything “right”—getting good grades, playing sports, joining every club and volunteer opportunity, going to college, building a career, etc. Despite the effort, the self-doubt was always there.
Now, looking at everything I’ve accomplished, I can finally recognize my own strength. It’s given me real confidence and excitement for what I can create in the future—the impact I can make in the beauty industry.
My goal is to give women a true safe space: one filled with kindness, not greed; support, not judgment; positivity, not negativity. A place where they feel seen, valued, and cared for.
