We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lida Johnson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lida below.
Hi Lida, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism wasn’t something I was born with—it’s something built slowly, over time. It comes from growing up in an environment where love wasn’t modeled and encouragement was scarce, and deciding early on that my life would not follow the patterns I came from. It comes from rebuilding myself again and again, from finishing Ironman triathlons and hiking mountains I once thought were impossible, from finding my voice after a childhood spent silent. Over the years, I learned that pain doesn’t have to define us and that change is always possible. I’m reminded constantly that every moment presents a choice—and we always have the power to choose differently. My optimism isn’t naïve or accidental; it’s hard-earned resilience transformed into hope.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my story. I’m a Health & Wellness Strategist and the founder of Head-to-Toe Coaching, where I help individuals create personalized, measurable, and sustainable plans for improving their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Instead of offering one-size-fits-all advice, a strategist analyzes a person’s habits, lifestyle, goals, and challenges to design a customized roadmap that integrates nutrition, movement, stress management, mindset, and daily routines.
What feels most meaningful about the work I do is watching people rediscover themselves. Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their bodies – from themselves. Through a blend of compassion, education, and practical strategy, I help them learn not only about their own patterns and strengths but also how to understand and connect more deeply with others in their lives. We build sustainable change together—one small, intentional step at a time.
I’m also incredibly excited about my upcoming book, 6 Million Reasons to Hope: Finding Inner Light After a Life of Hurt, which will be released in early July 2026. The book shares my personal journey from a childhood marked by trauma and silence to a life built on resilience, healing, and hope. It’s part memoir, part guide—a reminder that no matter where you start, you can choose a different path and create a life filled with meaning, strength, and possibility.
In addition to the book, I’m continuing to grow my 1:1 coaching, my group programs, expand my workshops, and create more accessible tools that help people understand the integrated nature of health—how your body, mind, and life must work together for health and wellness to truly take root. Whether it’s through my writing, speaking, or coaching, my mission remains the same: to help people uncover the light within themselves and believe in their own capacity to chase and achieve their dreams.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, three qualities have been the most impactful in shaping both my personal transformation and the work I do today. Three pieces of advice:
First – ACT – take action with courage, even when afraid.
My Story: I didn’t always know where I was going, but I learned to take the next step anyway—whether it was leaving home at eighteen, traveling the country alone, training for my first Ironman, or rebuilding my life piece by piece. Action creates momentum, and momentum builds belief.
My advice: Start small. Don’t wait for confidence to appear before you move—confidence comes from movement or action. Choose one small action each day that aligns with the life you want to build.
2. ENGAGE – ENGAGE willingly and fully with life, learning, and healing.
My story: For years, I tried to simply “get through” life. It wasn’t until I started engaging—asking questions, seeking help, learning about my patterns, and paying attention to my body and mind—that transformation took root.
My advice: Get curious and educate yourself. Engage with your experiences instead of avoiding them. Learn what your habits reveal. Ask for support. The more engaged you are, the more empowered you become.
3. COMPASSION: – show compassion to yourself and others.
My Story: This was the hardest skill for me to develop, especially coming from a childhood where compassion wasn’t modeled. But learning to show myself grace, understanding, and forgiveness changed everything. It allowed me to form healthier relationships, build deeper connections, and stop carrying the weight of self-criticism.
My advice: Practice compassion the way you’d practice any other habit. Start with your inner voice. When you make a mistake, speak to yourself the way you would speak to someone you love.
Together, these three pillars—Act + Engage + Compassion = Transformation—have shaped the foundation of my work and my philosophy. When you practice all three consistently, you create space for true transformation.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always looking to partner and collaborate with others who believe, as I do, that health and wellness is a full-body, full-mind, fully integrated experience. No single provider can address all the layers of a person’s wellbeing, which is why collaboration is so essential. I’m most energized when working alongside professionals who see the whole person, not just a symptom or diagnosis.
My pie-in-the-sky vision is bold but deeply needed:
To have a health coach working alongside every medical doctor so that when someone is diagnosed with a metabolic condition—like prediabetes or diabetes—the recommendation is lifestyle support and a health coach, not a prescription, as the first line of defense.
Imagine the impact if nutrition, movement, mindset, stress management, and behavior change were supported from day one. We’d be treating the root, not just the result.
I’m especially interested in collaborating with integrative and functional medicine practitioners who are committed to supporting the whole person and creating an integrated, compassionate approach to long-term health and wellness.
The goal is shared: to support the whole human and help people create sustainable, empowered change.
