Meet Kalin Sheick

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kalin Sheick. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kalin , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I look at confidence like a muscle, it takes a LOT of reps to get it as strong as possible. I was always a confident kid growing up but putting myself in more and more rooms that required the confidence needed to move to the next level forces you to speak up and make impact.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

When I left my career in television to start become a florist I never imagined it would spin into what it’s become. Sweetwater, is a flower focused lifestyle brand rooted in Northern Michigan. We flower for weddings across the state, teach floral design workshops around the world & I speak on stages inspiring women to BLOOM “Build Life Out Of Moments” and design lives they truly love living.

Our Walloon location is a full service flower + gift shop open year round. My passion is being in front of groups and helping them find their creative spark in workshops and design demos.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Oh goodness, I’d say – being a storyteller, being comfortable with failure and making mistakes, being able to make quick decisions. So many people early in their journey stall out on progress because everything needs to be perfect. I’m a big fan of ‘done is better than perfect.’ Not sacrificing quality of course, but if you wait for the perfect time for something you’ll be waiting forever.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

Stop working. Spend it with my kids, travel and BLOOM.
