Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Valentina Montevecchi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Valentina, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Owning a business and working with clients every day keeps me driven. I take a lot of pride in building something meaningful, and that pushes me to work hard, stay organized, and always learn.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a Master Esthetician and the owner of Skincare by Valentina. I started my career in Italy, and since moving to Washington, DC, I’ve spent the last decade perfecting techniques that lift, sculpt and restore the skin naturally. What I love most is that my work goes beyond beauty—it’s about wellness, confidence and helping people reconnect with themselves.
My specialty is facial lifting massage and buccal work, which offer a natural alternative to more invasive approaches. Every treatment is hands-on and completely customized because no two clients have the same skin or needs.
I’m also working on a new project that I’m very excited about, although I can’t share too much yet. It’s something that will elevate the experience even more, and I can’t wait for the moment I can reveal it.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities and areas of knowledge in my journey all stem from the people who shaped me early on.
1. Learning From a Strong Mentor
My very first job was one of the most important experiences of my career. My first boss was incredibly successful, and she became a true mentor to me. I learned almost everything from her — how to work with clients, how to communicate with confidence and care, how to maintain professionalism, and how to operate with high standards every single day. Watching her taught me what excellence looks like in practice.
2. The Value of Continuing Education
She also instilled in me the importance of ongoing education. In the beauty and wellness industry, techniques evolve, products improve, and client expectations grow. She made sure I understood that learning never stops. That mindset has pushed me to constantly refine my skills, invest in advanced training, and stay ahead in my field.
3. Family Roots in the Beauty Industry
Some of my family members are also in the beauty world, and growing up around them taught me why the work we do is so important. They helped me understand the impact we have on people’s confidence, wellbeing, and self-care. Seeing their passion and dedication made me fall in love with the industry even more.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
If I knew I only had a decade of life left, I would spend that time fully present with the people I love most. Family has always been at the center of everything I do, and I’d want to create as many meaningful memories with them as possible.
I would also travel more — not just to see new places, but to experience different cultures, connect with people, and appreciate the beauty of the world. Exploring, learning, and sharing those moments with my loved ones would be the most meaningful way to spend that time.
