We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sanina Barber. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sanina below.
Hi Sanina, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose was something I’ve struggled with for years. Knowing what I love to do but how do I merge them all together. I’m a teacher at heart and teaching people is what I find most joy in. This was something I had to pray on year after year until it finally came to me. I’m a teacher and I’m a worship leader and I teach both aspects. Merging music and teaching at the same time has helped me find my purpose. It takes time but you have to keep trying and going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
So, I have multiple roles! I’m a teacher full time, worship leader, and artist! I love that fact that in every area I can watch people blossom into who God has called them to be. I’m very passionate about each of these roles.
I am the Founder/CEO of a non-profit organization called Cancer Interrupted. Cancer Interrupted has been in business for six year. The foundation of the organization is in memory of my father, Pastor Tracy Barber.
I also have a podcast entitled “Dear Worship Leaders,” that air every third Monday.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Number one, listening! I had to really understand, I don’t know everything and it’s okay to listen.
Number two, it’s okay to vulnerable but knowing who you can and can’t be vulnerable with. Everyone is not mature enough to handle you or your testimony.
Number three, just do it! No one is going yo create a lane for you, you just have to do it!
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Never let me give up! Never boxing me in and never letting me make excuses for myself even if I tried!
They are the reason I am who I am today.
My mom taught me to never allow an obstacle make me give up.
My father pushed me so I wouldn’t give up.
