Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ryan Cho. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ryan , so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from having overcome many challenges. and hardships, a stand out being my 2nd year of college (rock bottom in young adult years). From that experience of tribulations, thinking that nothing was going to get better, etc., going through that process and resolving everything during that time reminds me that I can overcome anything and things will eventually get better.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a filmmaker that also does production department work and occasionally acting. Projects that I gear towards to with directing are music videos. For the production department I want to focus on television shows, feature films, commercials, music videos, events, brand videos, etc. With acting, I mostly do scripted feature films or television shows (SAG-AFTRA eligible). I had a lot of experience doing different job positions when I first started out (editor, videographer, grip and electric, etc.), making me have a full rounded knowledge on how productions work from pre-production to post-production. I love that I can step into a new production and story for a period of time, and go into a new one afterwards, telling numerous stories for audiences.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
3 qualities that were most impactful in my journey were resilience, perseverance and adaptability. My advice is to keep on living and pushing through day by day. 80% of success is showing up. When times get tough, keep on going as that will build those 3 qualities. Living a variety of ups and downs will create that.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m seeking to collaborate with musicians on music video productions. Telling stories with music is something that I can fully invest in with a musician, having them be a partner on the production. Talking about the song, their music journey, what they want to accomplish in their music currently and in the future, etc. are things that I like to know when working with musicians. I also want to collaborate with creatives that work solely on narrative storytelling, primarily in scripted film and television. Those mediums of storytelling make me feel the most euphoric.
