Meet DJ Miss Haze

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DJ Miss Haze. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

DJ Miss, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

Coming in hot with a deep question, I see! My optimism is a result of my perspective on life, and life experience. Hardship was mentally harder for me to endure when I was younger, as I lead those phases predominantly with my emotions, Over time I developed a strategic approach that helps me assess the situation and evaluate which options I have to change it, or remove myself from it. Managing emotions enables me think clearly, and see opportunity in everything, everywhere! My optimism emerges from recognizing that opportunity combined with a deep problem solving thinking pattern. Life experiences help us shift our perspective, and optimism requires you to love and trust yourself to do the best you can. If anyone going through challenging times is reading this: know that you got this, and everything will be ok!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Absolutely, yes! I am DJ Miss Haze, an established DJ and MC service operating out of my three hub areas Denver, Chicago and Dallas Fort Worth. One thing about my business, I clearly love to bring the party! What sets DJ Miss Haze apart aside from my international experience across thousands of bars, clubs, concerts, weddings, corporate events and private events, is my unique approach to truly catering to my clients and my audiences. Every event is different, and I always deliver a packed dance floor vibe my clients are looking for. Those events are the most talked about, the most fun and inclusive, with opportunity for people to bond and live in the moment. I create experiences! I am currently working on my first youtube series that will talk about music, DJing, entrepreneurship, and you will finally get to see my rescue dog a lot. I hope you will tune in too! I am excited to interact and bond more with my communities online.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

To be a successful female DJ, you absolutely have to be on top of your game! Being a great DJ requires having the technical knowledge including components of audio engineering, music design, and communication which is a big layer in itself as it spans from promotion, bookings, to reading the room and giving your crowd the music experience they crave in the moment. For any DJs starting out or being early in their career, I highly recommend shadowing experienced DJs, open up shows for them, move across different settings to give you a broad range of exposure (clubs, bars, festivals, concerts, private events, corporate events, fundraisers, mixtape production, etc.) and ultimately find the lane you are most in-tune with. There is such a high demand for good DJs who are able to lead the crowd and orchestrate entire events. Be patient, there are no shortcuts to those learnings, and it will pay off. Being a DJ is so fun and worth the journey!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely yes! I am specifically interested in partnering with venues, wedding planners, photographers and any wedding vendors in the areas of Chicago, Denver, and Dallas Fort Worth. And I am absolutely determined to collaborate with more booking agencies or anyone working Corporate Events as well. If you fit any of those categories, I would love to meet you and work complementary to each other. I also am always interested in paying it forward. Any young talent coming up, my ears are open for you and I am happy to create strategies to grow your business and mastering your craft.
