We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Monica Ramirez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Monica below.
Hi Monica , so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
As I began my career as a baker there were so many moments where I was scared and full of doubt. But I understood that one tiny step at time helped me overcome the fear I felt starting this journey. It helped me take the risk to growing my business. For example I always said I’d keep everything simple because I was scared to try new recipes. But I had to risk messing up and wasting ingredients to even see if I could add a new delicious item to my repertoire. Once I realized that risks can lead to amazing rewards like a new skill or a new pastry to sell and that people love – I understood that risks while scary, are worth it.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a full hearted baker. I bake amazing cookies, cinnamon rolls, brownies, breads, cheesecakes and so much more. Everything I bake is a result of me tweaking a recipe and adding my own touch because I always promised myself I’d never sell something I wouldn’t eat.
I’m also a paralegal full time because j love law so that def helps my brain balance in ways baking doesn’t. Both fields have their own zest and keep me enticed. So I enjoy both alot.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back it was my curiosity, my determination and my willingness to not give up when I didn’t bake something right. It’s so easy to feel defeated when you’re trying something new. But if it sparks something in you or brings you joy even if it’s not perfect keep going until it is.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
I would spend that decade working towards a peaceful comfy life. I love baking and traveling – I’d focus on what steps would get me to doing both as often as possible. So likely I’d spend the decade baking and traveling.
