Meet Brad Scott

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brad Scott. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Brad, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from my parents, who always worked hard and were great role models, but I also have a desire to improve and be better continually. I am highly competitive and always work hard to achieve my individual goals.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I started my career working in the health club field. I really enjoyed creating an environment where our members could meet their goals and improve their lives. I transitioned over to working for the Boys and Girls Club and running all aspects of the sports programs in my community, as both my kids participated, and I loved everything about the organization. A few years after working for the organization, I became Executive Director, and in addition to running the sports, I began to run the entire organization.

We have experienced unprecedented growth and more kids participating in our programs than ever before. We have also had the opportunity to add programming to the club, increasing community engagement.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Hard Working: A high motor and constantly looking at ways to get better and improve.

2. Be Honest: Having the ability to have honest conversations and feedback, even when it is difficult to do so.

3. Never lose sight of what is essential in terms of every decision needing to be made. The ability to look at issues and problems from different angles.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

In general, when looking for people to collaborate with, I look at individuals with qualities I respect—people who are hardworking and honest. I also look for people who sometimes see things differently from me to consider other perspectives.
