Meet Gabrielle Nelson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gabrielle Nelson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gabrielle below.

Gabrielle, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

The person who taught me what hard works really means is my mother. She took on so many roles, did repairs in our home herself, and has always been so eager to learn anything & everything. She instilled those traits in me as a child and that continues to this day. As life goes I continue to meet hard working women who inspire me in so many ways. I try to take those lessons into everything I do.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’ve always been highly organized and detail oriented. While I’ve been able to take those skills into professional roles in the past, I’ve always wanted to do more. Planning weddings has been a perfect fit for both my creative and logistical expertise. For the past 3 years I’ve been planning events through my business, Weddings by Gabrielle.
My biggest drive for each wedding is not just to bring visions to life, but to ensure my couples get to enjoy their engagement: a short and very special time in their lives.
It’s such an honor to walk a couple through their reception space for the first time after their ceremony, or that last moment I have with them before I send them off in their getaway car. Being trusted with someone’s big day is something I don’t take lightly, and I enjoy every minute of it. 2026 is set to be our biggest year yet. I can’t wait to share what we have coming up.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’ve always been pretty good at reading people. I can usually guess the vibe a couple is going for early into our conversations, before we ever talk aesthetics or I see a Pinterest board.
Problem solving has also always been a huge part of my personality. Whether it’s a vendor mishap or a dispute with your bridesmaid, I’m willing to step in and fix it, either with you or for you.
However my best quality for my line of work would have to be obsession with spreadsheets, which started early!
Overall I think it’s important to be able to understand who your clientele is and how you can best serve them. Some couples want every part of the night right on schedule, some would rather mingle no matter what’s next on the timeline. You can’t execute their perfect day without really getting to know them.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Putting myself out there. It can be hard for me to introduce myself to other professionals. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time, I don’t want to embarrass myself, and I certainly don’t want to get stuck in awkward silence. This past year I’ve really made a conscious effort to get over those fears. I’ve attended the networking events. I’ve handed out my business card. I don’t shy away from selling myself. It’s made a such a difference in my business to have more connections in the industry.
