Meet Cody James

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cody James. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Cody , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from a lot of different avenues, most importantly during the true years of molding and shaping I saw my father go back to school after dropping out of high school, and saw the fruit of labor that came from the long night’s, early day all while raising my little brother, when I look around and look in the mirror directing my choices I really have no choice but to work. I also went through a lot this year that flipped an internal switch, and that work ethic turned into discipline.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am vibe curator of many facits, mainly I am a smooth, confident, jazz and rnb infused hip hop artist. My brand is 100% my true self, I am to give listeners/viewers a sense of confidence and belonging when listening to my music I want to paint words to millions of Cody James like presences in the crowd. 2025 has been a major year of growth mostly in my personal life, between deaths, failed engagement the toxicity that comes from that, the growth of just being present in my art and continuing to be discipline and also take on new roles i.e engineering , so a rebrand is currently under way which I’m excited to unviel as 2026 rolls around the corner

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

the art (key word) art of rescilceny is the major trait, knowing you’re going to “fail” 100s of times before even starting to believe in yourself. You’re going to feel like your creating to a void enjoy those moments, keep going; on the other side of that void is a life unimaginable.
The ability to check and balance myself was and is very important having conversations with self that I never enjoyed other people telling me i.e informing of my flaws, calling me out for being “lazy” , making excuses etc.
The skill to have an open ear to criticism, I used to hate it and think why am I listening to this person or that person what I realized is, someone giving pure construction criticism is a form of love. Love makes things blossom.

My best advice is surround yourself with people who keep it honest, be honest with yourself. Embrace the “suck” and never stop growing. Always be in rooms where you’re the least successful it’s where you’ll grow the most.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

I go back to two books actually once a year, It’s all in your head by Russ, and the Alchemist by Pauhlo Cuehlo. Both are great reads and very introspective the latter being a little more of a puzzle, both speak on blocking out the thoughts that come from our lower vibrational self and realizing life is merely a game, we build the outcome by our day to day choices. “I don’t feel like going to the studio” ” I don’t feel like writing today” those are all lower vibrational thoughts it obtains to even the most mudnane of chores around the house the non actions make the action that much harder if that makes sense.
