We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tamika V. Johnson. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Tamika V., thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am currently building an official brand under my social media name BigTimeMeek. I am working on Big Time Media Productions, which is my filming, production, and social media brand. I aspire to release reels and videos of myself and my life via social media platforms, and usher my brand into more prominent success.
For the past 2-3 years, I paused the releasing of books to relearn myself and learn more about the Film Industry.
Nobody really knows this. So, you all are the first platform to know!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Tamika V. Johnson, and I am an Author, Entertainer, and Social Media Influencer. I am a successful, #1-placing Author of six books (Mind Games, Side Effects, Stocks & Bonds, Heart Strings, Kiana, and Kiana II: Love & War). I am also a Social Media Influencer named BigTimeMeek on popular sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
My motto is “Entertainment with a Purpose”, and this is what I live by in personal and entertainment lifestyles. I love to inspire and teach people about life through my writing and social media influencing. I enjoy being multi-talented and showing other people to not box themselves into one dynamic. I show multiple aspects of my personality and encourage my followers and readers to chase their dreams.
I am currently working on multiple projects. I am writing Books 7 and 8, called “Motives” and “Power”. I have matured a lot in my personal life and creative writing. So, these projects have been intentional and carefully done. I am also now a paid influencer and have developed partnerships with Amazon, DoorDash, and Facebook that I can’t wait to share. I have also been studying the Film Industry and filming my own documentary (which will be called “The Documentary: BigTimeMeek”). Therefore, I have high hopes that 2026 is going to be a great year for me and those who support my works!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful occurred when I discovered my ability to write. Feeling creative and free gave me a form of escapism. It gave me the mental luxury at an early age to get lost in brainstorming, creating, and developing characters. Even during periods of being unsure of where life would take me, I always knew that I loved and had a passion for creative projects. Writing makes me feel confident, in control, and powerful in expressing elements of the characters and myself. Those are why I love writing and entertainment. When one is passionate about something, it naturally becomes successful, for other people can relate and feel the connection a person has to their art.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Even though it may sound cliche, emotions and pain have benefited my art to a degree. Often, I take painful lessons about betrayal. emotions, heartbreak, grief, and other challenges to create while in that state. There is a place of vulnerability that you have to go to in order to create characters, make plots for storylines, and even heal inwardly when not creating a project.
During my earlier years, I would make the characters “perfect” since I was placed on high pedestals to always be seen that way.
Yet, there was a switch a few years ago while creating “Mind Games” where I felt very similar to the main character Nia while creating her. I wanted her to have similar flaws as me. So, it allowed me to assess how I felt about life at that time and incorporate some of my personal life into her storyline (while also adding drama for creative effect). I wanted to take painful experiences and add them to my books that marked where I was at the time and get the character to a place of healing in each book just like I was doing in real life. I believe taking your pain and using it to grow, heal, and uplift the next person is a power I carry.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! The public version is now the real version of myself. Whereas the image I used to portray felt boxed in. There is a liberation that I feel now in the last few years due to being completely myself and not hiding different layers of who I am. In this world, women have a hard time being able to do that. When we look in the media and world, we have to be perfect on the inside and outside…but what does that even mean?
I felt a release one day when I said, “I do not want to be what anyone tells me to be anymore. I am not a child. This is the new woman who I want to be now. If you are meant to stay in my life, you have to relearn me. If it’s too much for you, have a good life.”
I recognized that I can be Christian but still be a work in progress. I can have a bad day without people relying on me to be the happy one all the time. I can take a day to myself instead of overworking in my professional career. I can still love you but tell you “No”. I can go on and on about the beauty of a woman being one major contrast- beautiful and confident but growing and flawed at the same time.
The public has gotten to take this journey with me from “college-educated and perfect” to seeing me as a genuine woman who is a relatable work in progress. I actually took a lot of life lessons and designed who I wanted to be as a woman instead of what society or loved ones felt like that should look like for me. It’s a blessing to grow into the woman I am today and share her vulnerably with the world.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I think of who I am, it is not just being an Author, Entertainer, or Social Media Influencer with three college degrees: I am a Minister, and these interactions have allowed me to influence and reach many people in broader ranges than one specific location.
When I am gone, I hope that people share how I taught them about Christianity, have positively influenced them in some way through conversation or interaction, and how much I loved being an advocate for people.
Before leaving this earth, I desire to have reached the fullness of my purpose … which is to make a positive impact on other people and pass the torch to my loved ones to carry the legacy of Christianity, creativity, strength, and wisdom.
I want people to remember a quote from my book: “Don’t box me in; I won’t fit”.
