We recently had the chance to connect with Julia Palfi and have shared our conversation below.
Julia , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been finding joy in simple, grounding moments: long walks, discovering new places, listening to podcasts that spark curiosity, and giving myself space to think creatively.
Stepping away from the constant pace of work helps me reconnect with myself and fuels the inspiration behind ThreadRally.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the founder of ThreadRally, a women-led apparel brand focused on creating elevated essentials made in the USA. We design pieces that feel intentional, modern, and beautifully crafted: clothing for women who value comfort and style.
ThreadRally began because I couldn’t find the kind of elevated everyday essentials I wanted: pieces that were thoughtfully designed, premium in feel, and made to last. When I couldn’t find them, I decided to create them myself. I partnered with small American factories, fabric specialists, and fit experts to bring that vision to life.
What makes ThreadRally special is our commitment to purposeful design. We obsess over fit, fabric, and craft—not trends. Our pieces are created to make women feel good in their everyday lives, wherever those lives take them. It’s about clothing that enhances your day rather than competing with it.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was younger, I believed I had to have everything figured out early, that you needed a perfect plan to build a meaningful life. I no longer believe that. Some of the best parts of my journey came from being open to change, letting ideas evolve, and giving myself permission to grow in ways I never could’ve predicted as a child.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
Recently, I changed my mind about what growth truly means. I used to equate it with doing more and expanding quickly. Now I see that thoughtful focus, choosing quality, clarity, and intention, can be far more impactful. Sometimes the strongest decision is refining rather than adding.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Fads are usually loud, fast, and short-lived. Foundational shifts are quieter however more enduring. They’re grounded in real human needs, not short-term hype.
At ThreadRally, I look for things that continue to matter even when the noise dies down, ideas and choices that feel relevant, functional, and beautiful over time. When something supports how women actually live and feel, not just what’s trending, that’s when I know it’s a shift worth paying attention to.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, absolutely. ThreadRally was built long before there was any audience or recognition, and those early days taught me the value of loving the work itself.
When you’re driven by purpose and proud of what you’re creating, external praise becomes a pleasant bonus, not the reason you show up. Meaningful work is its own motivation.
