Story & Lesson Highlights with Mark Englebrecht of San Jose Occidental Mindoro

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mark Englebrecht. Check out our conversation below.

Mark, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. When was the last time you felt true joy?
I feel joy all the time, moving to the philippines has brought so much joy in my life. I have been here for 2 years now and things have moved in a way I never knew would happen! Since moving here to the Philippines I have met many amazing people as well as starting a charity organization with other youtubers, tiktokers, and vloggers.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
To you who are all reading this story my name is Mark Englebrecht also known as Bakasenseivlog on Facebook, TikTok, Youtube and Twitch! I originallly grew up in Azusa California, but ended up joining the military after high school, I now am long retired and spend my time streaming video games and making comedy shorts as well as doing features here in the Philippines with my wife and step children. We have started a charity organization known as Team Goodvibes as well here and have fed over 2,000 families that live in either poverty as well as those that were forced into the shelters during the typhoons because of the flooding here in the province that we live in. This was not done alone my wife Mery Grace has been the inspiration along with coordinating, logistics and organizing these missions, as well as the members of my team who have helped to make these events a success and help many of those who lost so much to them I say “thank you” and “salatmat”.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God first of all has to the most influential, growing up I was raised by a mother who no matter how bad things were always never gave up on her belief that god would pull us through even when it seemed the most dim at times and she didn’t know how she would put food on the table, but somehow we always pulled through and I can testify to that. In this belief it has also given me and amazing wife, children, step children, as well grandchildren! I have also been blessed with my financial situation to be able to give back to those people who are not as fortunate or are in a situation that I knew growing up, and that gives me something to know that I can make a difference in peoples lives as well as hopefully inspire you reading this article as well. In 2nd Corinthians 9:7 says “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”. This does not mean of just your finances but also getting out there and just doing something right for those in your community but do something out of your heart!

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
Failing is an accomplishment I have failed at many things in my life, being in the military made it hard to being there for my children as they were growing up I was an absent father due to schools and deployments as well as a failed marriage to my first wife as well. As I have gotten older I thought I would never get a second chance at life, I have spent years making up for the mistakes that I have made in my life. I realize holding on to those mistakes just makes you continue to fail and you have to let life lead you on the path that god intended you to as well as learning to forgive not only yourself but to forgive those who have hurt you the most as well. If you are going through something one pray on it as well confront it head on or it will continue to burn a hole in your life! Its never too late for anything!

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
What you see on my Social media is who I am in real life when you see me on the street I will probably be the first to greet you! My wife and kids sometimes feel embarrassed because I will meet complete strangers in places that have seen me on the internet or at some event and I will literallly stop everything that I am doing including eating my meals in a restaurant or even to stop on the side of the road just to take pictures with those that ask me, I love people especially for those that have been the most supportive of me in all my endeavors it has opened so many doors in my life that I never thought I would have been able to open and without you all that would not have been possible! Even my marriage to my current wife the funniest part of this story is that she started out as a fan of my tiktok channel to being my best friend and now as my lifetime partner (she will probably be embarrassed after she reads this but I love you always babe)! I enjoy seeing the smiles on peoples face when they do meet me in person and always enjoy making people laugh as well!

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want at the end of the story of my life to hopefullly have left and amazing footprint behind, I want people to remember me as a person that was loving, kind,(although a bit of an asshole at times) had an amazing heart that really cared about the people in and out of his life! I hope that with this organization that my wife and I have created that it will continue to grow and inspire many others to get out there and help the communtity in any which they can in even the smallest capacity!
