Helena Mace’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Helena Mace and have shared our conversation below.

Helena , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
My usual day generally consists of songwriting or rehearsing for gigs as I do several each month. I like to take time out to exercise too either going to the gym or walking down the beach near to where I live

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My band are Helena Mace and RumSoaked . We are a 4 piece line up who perform covers from country, pop and rock.genres as well as original tracks written by myself.

We have a busy gig line up for 2026.amd are recording a single in January

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was breaking away from situations where I wasn’t comfortable and realising that I could make my own decisions and I didn’t have to move in a certain direction. I could choose my own path

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I came very close to giving up my dream when I lost most of my hearing in 2022 after radiotherapy to my brain after a tumour had been discovered. I decided to take a chance and continue my dreams and it ended up becoming more successful than ever

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I am very similar to the public version of me but in my private life I am quite shy and like to spend time quietly at home. On the other end of that spectrum, I can also be outgoing depending on the situation I am in.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That she worked hard and tried hard. That she was kind and just wanted to provide a future for her family and build a legacy for years to come.
