Meet Lindsey Williams

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lindsey Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I’d like to think I got my work ethic from my grandparents. Growing up in the country and on a dairy farm taught me at a young age what hard work was all about.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hi, I’d like to introduce myself. I’m Lindsey Williams and I’m the owner of Stomping Grounds coffee shop located in central Minnesota. Over the past 8 1/2 years myself and staff have worked incredibly hard to create a welcoming space known for delicious coffee drinks, chai teas, wraps, panini sandwiches and baked goods sourced from Central Market & Old Soul Artisan Bakery. I still to this day can’t believe I’m living my dream of owning a coffee shop but so very happy on how successful it is. We’ve made it in the top 5 of worth a trip series with Twin Cities Live, on WCCO, the radio and now featured in two magazines.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’d like to think that consistency, determination and a large customer base has pushed me to keep going. I’ve researched products and experimented with a variety of products too to make them a memorable experience. Set the goals high and don’t be afraid to take the leap when it comes to a dream or just an experience in your life. We only get one chance so make it count!

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
There’s not just one person I can think of when comes to who has been most helpful. First I would have to say my staff. They work hard daily, willing to bring several different qualities to the table and each have their own skills that benefit the coffee shop. My mom, for being my support system when I need to bounce ideas off of. My mom has taught me several skills throughout my life that I use on a daily but one I can think of is never stop learning. My boyfriend has been there when it comes to teaching me how to be proud of how far I’ve come over the past 5 years since we’ve been dating, helped me with many remodel projects at the coffee shop and bounce all the crazy ideas off of him and push me to go for the jump on new things.
