Meet Hailey Rowe

We recently connected with Hailey Rowe and have shared our conversation below.

Hailey, thank you so much for joining us today and appreciate you talking about a sensitive topic. It’s unfortunately relevant to so many in the community as layoffs have been on the rise recently, and so we’d appreciate hearing your story and how you overcame being let go?
After getting my Bachelor’s Degree in entrepreneurship, I got my dream job working at a wellness startup in Business Development & Marketing. I moved across the country for it & LOVED it. It taught me a TON about marketing, sales, managing people, and more because it was a small team and very fast paced. However, the day after Halloween in 2017, everyone was let go in one day due to unforeseen timeline delays in being able to launch.

At first, I was DEVASTATED, but I also knew that one day, I wanted to have my own business. My dad told me that one of his regrets was not starting his own business when he didn’t have as many responsibilities in life (ie no kids, no house payments, etc.). I kept thinking there was going to be a time I’d be “more ready” & “more experienced” before I’d start my own business. Plus, I thought having a job was the “safer” route. But I quickly learned at a young age that was NOT the case & I figured I might as well start my own business when I was young & had little responsibilities.

So, towards the end of 2017, I started my podcast- “Health Coach Nation” (https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/health-coach-nation)- sharing. marketing, sales, time management, and mindset tips for wellness professionals and coaches.

I also started doing some research with wellness professionals to hear more about their struggles with getting clients. Then, I started to develop my private marketing coaching services & my small group Inner Circle program.

Getting let go ended up being one of the best things to ever happen to me! I’ve never looked back since & my niche has started to expand to helping online coaches and service providers with their business growth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
There are 3 top skills I believe entrepreneurs need to succeed:

1) The first is WILLINGNESS to experience BIG feelings. Entrepreneurship is both emotionally and financially risky. Therefore, you must be WILLING to feel all the feelings that come with that: doubt, fear, uncertainty, etc.

I grew up a singer and performer, which meant there was a lot of REJECTION. I would prepare for weeks to go down to the city for a 5-minute audition & I may or may not ever hear from that person again. It was a lot of putting yourself out there not always knowing if there would be any return. I think this prepared me for entrepreneurship.

If you want to develop your ability to feel bigger feelings, put yourself in more uncomfortable situations and let the uncomfortable feelings come along with you while you take the action. You’ll realize afterwards it’s not as bad as you thought, feelings pass, & you become more equipped for the next time.

2) The second is developing SALES skills. You don’t have a business if you don’t have sales. So many people have a belief that sales has to be icky, or that it’s “asking or convincing people for money.” It doesn’t have to be this way. Sales can be an invitation & you can lead with curiosity and interest in your potential clients.

Sales is about helping someone find a solution to their problems. Sometimes, you’ll have a sales conversation and discover the person is not the right fit for your offer & other times, you’ll feel your offer can totally help them. In which case, it’s your duty to help them see their options & support them in coming to a decision. It’s OKAY if that decision is a no towards your product or service, but a good sales person explores the options & with the potential client & isn’t afraid to ask good questions to help that person decide their next best steps.

If you’d like to start shifting your sales mindset, I have a Free Superhero Sales Journal: https://haileyrowe.kartra.com/page/salesjournal

3) The last skill that I believe is ESSENTIAL is CONSISTENCY. Entrepreneurship is all about planting seeds overtime that flourish. You are not going to see instant gratification. You have to get good at showing up daily despite delayed returns.

But it’s not enough just to be consistent. You have to be consistently improving by reflecting along the way about ways you could up level your process, systems, etc.

To develop consistency, a good place to start is with some great books on this topic: The Compound Effect, The Slight Edge, and Atomic Habits.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes! I love collaborating. One of the topics I teach my clients is collaboration marketing & it has been one of the top ways I’ve grown my business.

I am looking to collaborate with business owners like…
– Certification Programs for Coaches, Wellness Practitioners, or Health Professionals
– Directories for Coaches or Wellness Professionals
– Website Designers
– Lawyers who create legal templates for coaches or online business owners
– Done-For-You Service Providers for Coaches, Wellness Practitioners, or Health Professionals

I also love connecting with my niche directly & live coaching them on my podcast sometimes! So, if you are a health coach, life coach, mindset coach, or online service provider- feel free to reach out!
