We’re looking forward to introducing you to Danny Machado. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Danny, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
What I’m being called to do now is step in front of the camera in a way I’ve always been hesitant about. For years, I was more comfortable behind the lens. Writing, producing, and creating. But in this new season with my YouTube channel, I feel God pushing me out of that comfort zone.
It’s uncomfortable because being on camera means putting not just my work, but myself out there, my voice, my face, my convictions. That level of vulnerability is something I used to avoid. But I also know that hiding doesn’t serve the message I’ve been entrusted with. If I want to impact people, I can’t stay in the shadows.
So, I’m stepping up. I’m letting go of the fear of being judged, of not being “good enough” on camera, and instead focusing on being authentic. This new season is about showing up boldly, speaking the truth clearly, and trusting that the right people will connect with it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Danny Machado, and at my core, I’m a storyteller. Through my work as a filmmaker, I aim to create projects that don’t just entertain but carry weight. Stories that spark reflection, conviction, and conversation. My brand is unique because it blends my background in creativity, faith, and business into films that are both bold and deeply human.
What sets my work apart is that I’m not afraid to take risks with subject matter. Whether it’s weaving faith into raw, real-life struggles or exploring themes the industry often overlooks. I believe film has the power to move hearts and shift culture, and I want to use that power with intention.
Right now, I’m developing a feature project called Prayers on the Battlefield, which combines gripping storytelling with a gospel-centered impact. I’m also building a growing presence online, using platforms like YouTube to bring people into the process, share truths that matter, and create a community around meaningful content.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to tell stories that last, that matter, and that point people toward something greater than themselves.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I carried this quiet belief that I wasn’t good enough. That no matter what I did, it wouldn’t measure up. That mindset shaped a lot of how I saw myself growing up.
Now, I don’t believe that anymore. Through experience, faith, and stepping into the work I feel called to do, I’ve learned that I am enough, and not because of perfection or comparison, but because of the purpose I’ve been given. I’ve proven to myself over and over that I can create, I can lead, and I can impact others. That old lie doesn’t hold weight anymore.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, after my first short film flopped. It wasn’t even good enough to release, and that was crushing. I had poured so much time and energy into it, only to feel like I failed before I even started. For a moment, I questioned whether I was cut out for filmmaking at all, and I seriously considered walking away.
But looking back, that moment was necessary. It humbled me, taught me resilience, and forced me to grow. Instead of quitting, I learned to treat failure as feedback. That early disappointment became fuel; it reminded me why I wanted to tell stories in the first place, and it pushed me to keep creating until my work matched the vision I had inside.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the industry tells itself is that only rich people can break into Hollywood. It’s this unspoken idea that if you don’t already have connections, money, or privilege, you don’t stand a chance. And while that mindset is common, it’s simply not true.
The truth is, creativity, persistence, and authenticity still cut through. Yes, the road is harder without resources or access, but technology, independent platforms, and grassroots communities have changed the game. Stories that matter will always find a way to reach people, even outside the traditional gatekeepers.
Believing the lie keeps talented voices silent; rejecting it gives space for a new wave of storytellers to rise.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
What I’ll regret most is not taking risks. Playing it safe might feel comfortable in the moment, but it never leads to growth or impact. As a filmmaker and creator, I know the stories that change people’s lives come from bold choices, not cautious ones.
If I look back and see that I held back. Whether it was out of fear, doubt, or waiting for the “perfect” time, I’ll regret the opportunities I missed to step out in faith and create something meaningful. Taking risks is where purpose and possibility meet.
