Meet Mark Saveded

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mark Saveded a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mark , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.

I’ve often say to whom much is given much is expected . My parents taught me at a young age to help those in need and share my time , talents and resources with others .
Having spent extensive time in 3rd world countries, I learned at a young age we must all do our part to make the world better and shine our light to those in need .
It’s always been my mission to give more then I have and help as many people as possible in my life

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m first and foremost a husband to Nicole , a father to two amazing young women – Anna, and Emily and my two stepchildren Finn and Estella

I earned degrees from Eastern Michigan University in Communications and Psychology & went on to further my education with a Masters Degree in Public Speaking.

I am a competitive athlete who has raced Ironman triathlons & marathons around the world, practices yoga and weight training daily and a motivational speaker and life coach.
I went on to flourish in the restaurant business, taking after my parents and growing a local business into a place, known to many as a community and service-oriented business. Im excited to say that on June 26, 2025 will be my 32nd year in business at Alekos Catering & Carryout!

Aleko’s Catering and Carryout is well-known in South Lyon, Mi and other surrounding communities, for getting their customers to volunteer on local and international projects to help the less fortunate.

I HAS VOLUNTEERED IN NORTH AMERICA, CANADA, AFRICA, SOUTH AMERICA, WEST INDIES, THE VIRGIN ISLANDS, EUROPE AND MANY MORE GLOBAL DESTINATIONS.

I use my skill set to help coach other people to grow their business with leadership & outreach training and I organize volunteer programs to get people giving back to their communities. In my free time I pursue my passion for acting in television commercials, and modeling in various magazine’s , websites & billboard ads around the country .

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Be relational by being more interested then interesting with people!

Communicating directly with people “old school” style is my secret weapon! I love engaging in conversations by looking people in the eye , good old fashion handshakes , phone calls , thank you letters , etc …In a world so quick to respond with texting and social media it’s important to stay connected face to face to build those solid foundation’s in relationships.

Also I would highly encourage everyone to find a few mentors who can help you become all your designed to be in this life.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

“ANOINTED FOR BUSINESS” was my favorite book and “MY GREATEST TAKE-AWAY IS THE MINDSET OF A LIVING FOR A GREATER PURPOSE” By using your vocation as a platform / mission field to help other people in need, you can change the world!
