An Inspired Chat with Syla Baset of Summerlin

We recently had the chance to connect with Syla Baset and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Syla, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have you stood up for someone when it cost you something?
I stood up for my daughter when it came to someone manipulating her and trying to make her feel bad. Bringing her feelings down to their level when she did nothing wrong. Brought that person relationship with me to be distant.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
At HeartofBaset Healing, healing is not limited to the individual—it flows through the entire family, including our beloved animal companions. Rooted in compassion, energetic balance, and spiritual connection, HeartofBaset Healing offers Reiki, sound healing, and intuitive wellness services designed to support humans and animals together. By honoring the deep bond shared between people and their pets, these sessions create a calm, nurturing space where stress is released, emotions are soothed, and harmony is restored. Whether supporting sensitive children, overwhelmed adults, anxious pets, or rescued animals adjusting to new environments, HeartofBaset Healing provides gentle yet powerful energy work that helps the whole family feel grounded, safe, and aligned—mind, body, and spirit.

My journey into healing began with my own need for it. For many years, I struggled with practicing self-love, often seeking validation from others rather than within myself. During that time, navigating mental health challenges felt overwhelming, and putting my own needs first did not come naturally.

Choosing to prioritize my mental well-being became a turning point. Through intentional self-care, inner work, and learning to love myself more deeply, I began a powerful journey of healing, growth, and self-discovery. This process taught me that true healing starts from within and that self-love is not a luxury—it is essential.

Today, that journey inspires the work I do through HeartofBaset Healing. My mission is to support others in reconnecting with themselves, cultivating self-love, and restoring balance in their lives. By holding a compassionate and safe space for healing, I help individuals and families—both human and animal—move toward greater peace, confidence, and emotional well-being.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that who I was—what I thought, felt, and expressed—needed to be filtered through the expectations and judgments of others. Feeling like the “black sheep” often led me to doubt myself and quiet my voice in order to fit in. That belief shaped my confidence for many years.

As an adult, I no longer hold that belief. I now understand that my thoughts, choices, and self-expression do not exist to meet the standards of society, friends, or even family. I believe in honoring what brings me genuine joy, peace, and alignment, as long as it is rooted in positivity and integrity. I am here to live authentically, to be fully seen, and to walk my path with confidence—knowing that my life is mine to live.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there were moments when I came very close to giving up. Earlier in my life, I faced periods where the weight of personal challenges made it difficult to see a path forward. More recently, I nearly gave up on my business. I was investing significant time, energy, and effort without seeing immediate progress, which was discouraging and exhausting.

After deep reflection, I reminded myself that meaningful growth rarely happens quickly. Building something aligned with purpose takes patience, consistency, and trust in the process. I realized that if I stopped then, I would never know how far I was capable of going. Choosing to continue—rather than quit—became a defining moment. By staying committed and pushing forward with intention, I began to see positive momentum and results. That experience reinforced my belief in perseverance, faith, and honoring the journey, even when progress feels slow.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am deeply committed to the belief that self-love and intentional positivity have the power to transform lives, no matter how long the journey takes. In a world where negativity is often overwhelming, I have made it my mission—both personally and through my business—to create spaces rooted in compassion, encouragement, and healing.

Through my work, I strive to spread positivity that is genuine and uplifting, reminding individuals who may be struggling that they deserve to put themselves first. By learning to love and honor themselves, people can begin to shift their mindset, restore balance, and reconnect with their inner strength. This is a belief I will continue to stand behind and nurture, knowing that meaningful change happens one heart at a time.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I were to retire tomorrow, I believe my customers would miss the positive, grounding energy I bring to every healing session and interaction. Beyond the services themselves, I offer a supportive presence and words of encouragement that help people navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and peace.

I gently remind those I work with that not everything in life can be controlled, and that sometimes the most powerful form of healing is learning to allow life to unfold as it is meant to. By shifting perspective and seeking positivity—even in difficult moments—people can find balance, resilience, and trust that life will eventually restore harmony. That sense of calm, reassurance, and energetic support is what I believe they would miss most.
