Meet Lonnie “C.R.G” Craig Jr.

We were lucky to catch up with Lonnie “C.R.G” Craig Jr. recently and have shared our conversation below.

Lonnie “C.R.G”, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I believe that me being a natural fighter and going through many adversities mentally, emotionally, and physically; I just honed a fighting spirit. I researched my name just to discover that the origin means noble warrior, so it even further incentivize that birth names do have meaning behind them. So in essences I’m just operating in my nature. I want to prove not only to myself that I have the strength to persevere, but to those who support me in this journey, that they can be resilient and conquer whatever they desire to overcome as well.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m artistically known as “C.R.G.” I’m born and raised as well as located in Hattiesburg,Mississippi. I’m a recording artist, music producer, audio engineer, videographer, and future content creator of C.R.G Productionz. C.R.G stands for creativity refines genuity. I create multi-genre based experimental hip hop-rap along with producing for other artists in different genres. I’m a new member to the artist roster on The Mississippi Artist Commission. I have also joined the Global Greatness Group with close collaborators Jones (@ineedjonesnow), Michael Mitchell of Light Productions Llc., (@lightproductionsllc), and Dj 808 (@dj808601).

I’m a 6x Billboard charting music producer contributing works on the “Peer Pressure Project”, featuring the recording artist, “Jones”(@ineedjonesnow). I have released my first personal project where I recorded and produced majority myself titled,
:
“The Foolizh Dreamz Project,” on all digital streaming platforms, along with a few number of song singles from other collaborative artists and myself.
I’m currently working on more musical projects and creating musical visuals to go along side the music I have out currently and those in the works. I’m also working on generating more awareness of my live performance to get more booking at venues.
I have always been a creative ever since I was a toddler. My brand is simple. To Create, and Refine Genuity. I wish to show others the vision of my many worlds that are in my head, and hopeful to encourage others to create and embrace their imagination.

The services I offer are recording and production/composition for artists, labels, media companies, and sync licenses pools. I desire to explore more musical scoring and film/soundtrack composition and more multimedia and content creation along with animation and game design. I’m all about telling stories and creating new worlds whether it be from an audio or visual standpoint. The story has to encapsulate creativity to grasp minds and hearts.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three most important qualities I say that I have is one resilience, adaptability, and uniqueness. The three most important skills that carried me along they were my natural ear for music production, audio engineering, and being hands on with multimedia. My advice for those who are just beginning this journey is to seek out mentorship, there is nothing like finding and learning from someone who is proficient in what you desire to do; it can help your develop a whole lot faster. Also my second advice is to develop a hunger for what you do, learn and absorb as much as possible to create your own identity and can be highly efficient as well.
