Meet Shelli Bradley

We recently connected with Shelli Bradley and have shared our conversation below.

Shelli, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

I honestly believe I was born with optimism. As far as I can remember, I’ve always looked at the positive in every situation. As I’ve gotten older, of course I have my moments of the negative and sit in it for a second because I’m allowed to feel my feelings. But I try my best to get out of it as fast as I can because it feels so terrible to be in that state. It’s a lesson, not a death sentence, move on. Now I will say that I grew up in a household with beautiful parents who afforded their children a great life. There was always love in the house and a caring spirit, so with that kind of wholesomeness one can’t help but to feel optimistic.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a Fashion Stylist and Interior Decorator who now has added Real Estate Agent to my resume. I call myself a Style Storyteller as what I do tells a story of how one dresses themselves, dress their home and the home being the foundation that tells the whole story. So all three of my worlds collide and intertwine beautifully.

It’s exciting to see how people light up and feel more confident when they are wearing the clothes and the clothes aren’t wearing them. That’s the greatest feeling to know you helped build someone’s confidence of what they see in the mirror. When you look good you feel good. Same goes with your home, when your home looks a certain way stylistically, it gives a beautiful feeling of peace that also gives one confidence.

There’s a story to be told about how one dresses themselves and their home. It’s fun to people watch to see the street style or to visit someone’s home to see what story their decor tells you. It’s quite intriguing.

I wrote a mini keychain book this year called “Style Emergency: A Quick Reference Styling Guide. I wrote it for Stylists, Costumers and Costume Designers. It gives info on stain removals, dressing for your body type, undergarments, kit essentials and more. It’s also great for beginners of the industry to get a grasp on the essentials needed.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Being that I went to college for Marketing, that knowledge has helped me to come up with unique ways to market myself and other brands. I love to do things that are fun and out of the norm to make noise about a brand; be unique in my approach.

Knowing how to put clothes together has been a great skill of mine too obviously as I’ve built a career around it. I get compliments on the most random outfits that I feel as though I just threw on, but I have to own that it is a skill that I have mastered and to own it and walk in that power. This is a skill that started very early on in my life. I was just infatuated with clothes. I get great joy from it.

The third would be my aura. It’s not to be arrogant, but I say it with a lot of humbleness and this may be the first time I’ve actually said this in words. I’m a very calm spirit and always wanting to help in any way I can. It’s something my parents instilled in me, to just be kind. So I believe people feel that in my energy and gravitate towards it. I’m now owning my stance as I used to run away from it like “it can’t be me or why me and on and on.” But why not me? People would literally just stop and stare at me as I walked by and I couldn’t understand why, but now I walk boldly in it. It’s my confidence that steals that attention of others and I’m a firm believer of owning who you are.

If I could give advice to anyone it’s to walk boldly and confidently towards your dreams and desires as it will meet you where you are. As you go the way will truly unveil itself as the next step you are to take, but first you have to take the step. Just take it and watch how your life unfolds. Be consistent in all that you do as it’s the only way to build your life the way you want it to look.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was love me. That has taken me very far in life. You hear of so many people who come from broken homes and still have trauma from it. I don’t have that same story. There was always love in the home and you felt it even if it was said out loud. That action meant more than the words. It was real and still is. Because of them I am very loving, maybe to a fault, but I truly care for others and will give my last to see a smile on someone’s face. With that love it has made me feel as though I can do anything in this world I so desire. I know they always have my back no matter if they understand it or not.
