Meet Phil Ben-Ezra

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Phil Ben-Ezra a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Phil, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

Just over a year ago I had a huge health scare. I had a 98% blockage in my artery that very quickly could have killed me. In that moment I took stock of everything I had – my family, kids, businesses I built, and realized I have so much work to still do. I need to be here for my 6 kids. Because of the life saving heart surgery, I now have stents in my heart that make me feel like bionic man. I truly believe that there is a reason I am still here and very healthy, and that purpose is to give back. That’s where Grateful Roofing comes from, I am so grateful for my life, health, family and opportunities that I want to give back to my community, the doctors that helped me, my extended family, and the world as a whole.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

With over 30 years of experience in the field, Grateful Roofing exists to give back. Although we are a “new company” our parent company Property Solutions Plus has been around for a long time which has also given myself and our founding team knowledge in many different areas for home renovations.

Your roof is the first line of defense in protecting your home and your family. We want to be the ones to keep you safe and ‘covered with care’. Because of our family values, we understand the importance of feeling safe and warm in your own home. Our experts help with repairs and replacements in both commerial and residential buildings. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Perseverance. That is important in any entrepreneurial endeavors because building a business is not easy.

Risk-taking. Of course risks need to be calculated, but with no risk, there can be no reward. Think smart!

Education. Take time to really understand your craft and also your market. These two together will help you in creating a successful business.

My best advice is to put all these things together and really spend the time working on whatever it is you want to achieve. Without putting in a lot of time, it will be much harder to build something that is long-lasting.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

This is a loaded question but it really comes back to my family. We would do a lot of traveling and I would make sure to instill good values in my kids before I’m gone. Luckily my kids are already wonderful.
