Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrew John. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Andrew, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I say I get my resilience from the amount of no’s that I get every day. It’s a great motivation to keep on going. This industry of performing is not easy and the only way for you to do it is to just keep going. Because the famous phrase is, you can get many nose, but what matters is one yes.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I was raised in Austin Texas in a small town and my mom was a performer. She would teach kids about Africa while performing folk tales from Africa songs from Africa in a variety of different things I would help her out by moving boxes and also listening to her stage performance, I would always be inspired by how much she will be performing to people and showcasing her art towards many audience members and that’s when I discovered I wanted to do that as well so I was in elementary school. I did a lot of theater band art you name it I loved doing extracurricular activities after I graduated high school I immediately went into doing film and TV shows because I love how much to be on the screen. Many years on the line and now I’m starting my own Film production company called AKJ Studios, where I’m making feature films, short films, and documentaries.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think my three best quality skills are my a great performer, a consistent attitude, and great work ethic. I think if you have a great work ethic, you can be anything because I never come late to a set. I always get there early because I never wanna be late. The way to be a great actor or a great creator is to always be consistent in your craft and always keep growing consistency. Is Key in this industry. What I started out in high school and how I am now is way different. I’m a better performer than I was before and I’m glad that I’m growing as well.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My mom actually got me my first audition right whenever I got out of high school that started my whole acting journey to be connected throughout Austin. It was called SKAM Austin and BECAUSE OF HER GETTING ME ON THAT SET I GOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ON FEAR OF THE WALKING DEAD 13 REASONS WHY AND A WHOLE LOT OF DIFFERENT TYPE OF FEATURE FILMS THAT ARE PRESENTED THROUGHOUT AUSTIN.
