Meet Destiny Diaz

We were lucky to catch up with Destiny Diaz recently and have shared our conversation below.

Destiny , thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

Being burned out can be a blessing and a curse in my eyes. Sometimes you have to experience your breaking point to know when enough is enough. During the day I am a Kindergarten Teacher and having patience is NOT something that they teach you in college. So being burned out with work and my home life can be very easy. However assuring that I can find time to myself and allow my self to just decompress is honestly the best way I keep it all together. Life is hard no one ever enters with a manual, but I keep God first and the rest follows.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Destiny and I’m from Bridgeport Connecticut. I am a singer and creative storyteller who is currently embracing a deep and meaningful journey with God. Alongside music, I have recently explored film, screenwriting, and directing as ways to express faith, emotion, and lived experience through art. By day, I am a dedicated kindergarten teacher, nurturing young minds with patience and care. I also serve as a caregiver to my mother, who was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis—a role that has strengthened my compassion, resilience, and sense of purpose. Through every season of my life, I continue to create, serve, and grow, allowing my faith to guide both my art and my calling.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that i believe are the most impactful in my journey are ;

Compassion

As a kindergarten teacher and a caregiver to my mom, compassion shapes how I love, serve, and show up for others daily. It influences my patience, empathy, and the way I create safe spaces—both in my personal life and in my art.

Resilience

Balancing my faith journey, creative pursuits, teaching, and caregiving requires emotional and spiritual strength. Resilience allows me to keep moving forward through uncertainty, responsibility, and change while still honoring my purpose.

Purpose-Driven Creativity

Singing, filmmaking, screenwriting, and directing are not just artistic outlets—they’re expressions of meaning, faith, and testimony. This quality connects my creativity to my calling, allowing my life experiences to shape stories that uplift and inspire

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

The person who has been my rock through it all is my mom. Watching my mom raise 3 children and still go to school, work and maintain a home has been very inspiring. Watching her overcome all her obstacles and not allowing us to be affected by her downfalls, helps me become a strong and resilient woman I am today.
