Meet Leticia Valdez

We recently connected with Leticia Valdez and have shared our conversation below.

Leticia, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I get my resilience from all the times I was told “no” and all the time something in my heart told me I was a “yes”.
I didn’t always exactly know when that yes would arrive, or what shape it would take, but one thing I’ve always known is that I was meant to help people breakthrough. When I opened Amoura, I knew my yes had arrived. I had created a space where people can liberate themselves from the social stigmas society imposes on intimacy and the celebration of.
Opening an adult boutique allowed me to use my own lived in experience help others embark on their journey with their own bodies.
In a sea of “no’s” I never stopped searching for my “yes” and for a place where I belonged. When I didn’t find it, I created it

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am the Madame and Owner of Amoura. An adult boutique/Love temple located in downtown Pomona, CA

I created this space where intimacy, healing, and honest connection can exist without shame.
Through my work and my brand, Amoura, I focus on helping people reconnect with themselves and with each other in ways that feel safe, romantic, intentional, and real.

What excites me the most are the breakthroughs. Witnessing lovers soften as they open their minds and hearts up to each other’s fantasies and Kinks, and the acceptance!! makes me so happy. Watching people realize they are not alone or broken (we don’t yuck anyone’s yum) as long as its consensual and safe.
whether it’s through conversation, education, or community experiences, my work is rooted in the belief that intimacy is something we learn, and everyone deserves access to it.

At the heart of everything I do is the same intention: To help people feel more at home in their bodies, their relationships, and themselves

At Amoura, we host monthly events and workshops designed to meet people exactly where they are. Many of our classes are intentionally beginner friendly; Introductions to Shabari, BDSM, sensory play, etc. the intention is exploration without pressure or intimidation. Our work is also spiritually fused with offerings that include chord cutting rituals, intimacy focused astrology workshops, and reflective practices that support emotional and energetic healing. \

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

If there is something pulling at your heart string, no matter how wild the idea, you must find a way to execute.
I think the worst feeling is having that pull and never at the very least trying.

Altruism, ethic, and drive are also very important qualities to me. Give back t0 the community that has given to you, work hard, stay humble, and never lose sight

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

Trust me.
Even when my decisions didn’t align with their own views or expectations of what they wanted for me in life. Even when I failed, they always trusted me. I have to add that for immigrants parents, that’s a difficult thing to do. First gen Chicano folks will understand this.
