Meet Chynna Cohen

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chynna Cohen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Chynna, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

As a wedding planner, keeping my creativity alive is both a passion and a necessity – it’s the heart of what I do. I approach it in many different ways. Education is a big part of it – I’m always learning, whether that’s following trends, seeing what couples are looking for, or studying new techniques in design and event planning. I draw inspiration from the world around me, especially on social media, where I love to see how people are expressing themselves and finding new ways to celebrate love.

But my creativity doesn’t stop with weddings. I actively seek out other creative outlets, like pottery, crafting, or any kind of hands-on art, because experimenting in different mediums helps me bring fresh ideas back to my work. Travel is another huge influence – exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and connecting with nature constantly feeds my imagination. In fact, much of my wedding design comes from the natural environment. I love taking cues from the landscapes, colors, and textures I encounter on my travels and translating them into meaningful, beautiful details for each couple.

Ultimately, creativity for me is about curiosity and observation. It’s about noticing the little things that spark an idea and turning them into something tangible that brings joy to my clients. Being a wedding planner allows me to channel all of these sources of inspiration into creating weddings that feel personal, intentional, and unforgettable. Every event is an opportunity to blend what I love with what the couple loves, and that process keeps my creativity alive every single day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a wedding planner and event designer, and I specialize in creating experiences that are deeply personal, intentional, and reflective of each couple’s unique story. What excites me most about my work is the opportunity to bring a couple’s vision to life in a way that feels authentic to them. Every detail – from the design and color palette to the flow of the day and the small personal touches – becomes part of a larger story that celebrates their love.

For me, the most special part is seeing those moments unfold: the looks on people’s faces, the atmosphere we’ve created, and knowing that we’ve taken an idea or feeling and transformed it into something tangible and memorable. I love blending creativity with practicality, curating weddings that feel effortless, yet are thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail.
Inspiration is everywhere for me – nature, travel, art, trends, and everyday life all inform my work. Many of the weddings I design are influenced by the natural environment, whether it’s the textures and colors of a mountain landscape, the calm serenity of a forest, or the vibrant energy of the coast. My goal is to create weddings that feel elevated, meaningful, and full of personality, while still being timeless and beautiful.

Every wedding I take on is an opportunity to blend creativity, care, and intention, crafting a day that is uniquely tailored to each couple. I love helping couples bring their dream day to life in a way that feels completely theirs.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

First is attention to detail. Weddings are made up of countless small moments and elements, and the way they come together creates the overall experience. Developing this skill takes practice – look for opportunities in your own projects to focus on the little things, from timing and organization to aesthetics and flow.

Second is creativity. Being able to take inspiration from travel, nature, art, and trends and translate it into a cohesive, beautiful design has been essential in my work. For those starting out, I’d say experiment in all areas – try different creative projects, explore art forms, and allow yourself to play with ideas without pressure.

Finally, empathy and communication have been crucial. Planning a wedding is as much about connecting with people as it is about design. Being able to listen deeply, understand needs and emotions, and clearly communicate your vision builds trust and ensures a smooth process. For those starting out, practice active listening and learn how to translate ideas into language and visuals that others can understand.

If I could offer advice to anyone early in their journey, it would be this: focus on honing your design skills, pay attention to the details that make an experience memorable, and cultivate strong communication and empathy. These qualities not only make you a better planner—they allow you to create weddings that feel intentional, personal, and unforgettable.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal clients are couples who value intentionality, creativity, and personalization. They care about creating a wedding that reflects their story, personalities, and connection, rather than simply following trends or doing what’s expected. They’re collaborative and open to ideas, trusting my expertise to guide them while still bringing their own vision to the table.
I work best with couples who are excited about thoughtful design and meaningful details. They appreciate the art of creating an experience that feels elevated, personal, and cohesive – from the overall color palette down to the smallest decor element. They’re observant, curious about possibilities, and invested in creating a day that feels uniquely theirs.
Most importantly, my ideal clients are people who value the experience as much as the end result—they want to enjoy the planning process, feel supported, and trust that every decision is intentional. Working with couples like this allows me to fully bring my creativity and design expertise to life, and together we create weddings that are unforgettable, both for them and for their guests
