We were lucky to catch up with Z’eani Furdge recently and have shared our conversation below.
Z’eani , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from necessity and vision. I’ve had to adapt early, personally and professionally and that taught me how to keep moving even when the path isn’t clear. I’ve learned to treat setbacks as stumbles, not defeat. Every challenge sharpens my strategy instead of shaking my confidence.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a multi-hyphenate visual creative and founder of ZMF Studios. At the core of what I do is storytelling. I use photography, video, and digital media to capture people, brands, and moments in a way that feels real, intentional, and human. I don’t chase trends. I focus on emotion, clarity, and connection.
What’s most exciting to me is the quiet power of the work. I’m drawn to the in-between moments, the details people overlook, the energy you can feel but can’t always name. I specialize in lifestyle portraits, events, branding, and video editing, often working behind the scenes to help others show up confidently and authentically. My style is clean, minimal, and honest. I want my work to feel like you, just elevated.
My brand is built on consistency, trust, and growth. I’m not loud, but I’m relentless. I believe good work speaks for itself, and I let my results do most of the talking. I care deeply about creating safe, collaborative spaces where people feel seen and respected, especially for those who don’t always feel represented in creative rooms.
Right now, I’m in a season of expansion. I’m refining my services, taking on larger projects, and continuing to build systems that allow me to scale without losing the soul of the work. I’m also exploring more long-term creative partnerships and brand storytelling projects that allow me to have deeper impact rather than just quick wins.
At the end of the day, I’m building something sustainable, intentional, and meaningful. Not just a brand, but a body of work I’m proud to stand behind.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three things made the biggest difference in my journey: discipline, self-trust, and adaptability. Discipline carried me when motivation disappeared. It’s the reason I kept showing up before I felt “ready,” finished projects when no one was clapping, and kept learning even when progress felt slow. Learning to trust my own eye, voice, and instincts changed everything. Once I stopped outsourcing my confidence and waiting for validation, my work got stronger and my decisions got faster. The path never looked the way I imagined it would. Projects shifted, timelines changed, and I had to pivot more times than I can count. Being flexible without losing my core allowed me to keep moving forward instead of burning out or breaking down.
My advice to anyone early in their journey would be build simple, consistent habits; make decisions and learn from them instead of waiting to feel ready; and stay open to change. Growth rarely follows a straight line, but consistency, courage, and curiosity will carry you further than perfection ever will.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
One book that played a major role in my development is Atomic Habits by James Clear. It taught me that transformation doesn’t come from big dramatic moves, but from small, repeatable actions done consistently over time.
A few nuggets that really stuck with me:
-You don’t rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems. Progress is about what you practice daily, not what you hope for.
-Identity shapes behavior. When you see yourself as the type of person who shows up, the actions follow naturally.
-Consistency beats intensity. Doing a little well and often will outperform occasional bursts of motivation every time.
That book helped me stop chasing quick wins and start building sustainable momentum. Quiet changes. Loud results.
