We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Louis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Louis below.
Hi Dr. Louis, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Purpose is a tough question because I think it’s ever-changing . My purpose growing up was to not struggle. My mom came here from another country and I never wanted to disappoint her and the sacrifices she made to give me a shot at success. At the root of it all I can always ground myself with that to keep that very chip on my shoulder to keep pushing through.
As I was growing up, I’ve come to realize I have always been empathetic and worked a wide range of jobs but helping others resonates more with my core values. I wanted to find a job that was physically demanding, but also would require me to use my knowledge to help people and being a Chiropractor has given me that.
While I was in Chiropractic school I adopted a dog from the Downey Animal Shelter. I didn’t know it then but that also gave me new purpose in being a voice for animals and advocating for animal adoption. So now, I use my purpose as a chiropractor to help people and use my platform as a way to fuel my purpose as an animal advocate. I also have a toddler son who now gives me purpose to build something that he can be proud of.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Yes, so I’m a Rehab Chiropractor here in Cerritos, California. I believe in getting to the root cause of pain and formulating an individualized plan to help people get out of pain and continue doing the things they love. Some of the exciting parts about it is the problem solving aspect, to be honest. Utilizing what I’ve learned and figuring out where I need to make adjustments based on the patients feedback to yield better results. The absolute most exciting thing though is meeting new people and watching them get out of pain; extremely rewarding process.
Some things I’d like people to know about Crown Chiropractic are that we are patient centered. I believe in spending time with people- each session is an hour long and the entire time is spent with the doctor because I believe healthcare should be 1 on 1 care.
I’d also like people to know I do a fundraiser every year where I donate all the proceeds to a local animal rescue or animal shelter. This is something I’m extremely passionate about and get to utilize some of my creativity to make a product people like and bring awareness while giving back.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Discipline would be the main one. Discipline to do things that you don’t always want to do and sit through the discomfort of current circumstances for better outcomes I think can apply to all aspects of life.
I think the second one would be being open minded. In life, you aren’t going to know everything and just being open minded to change and accepting feedback in a constructive way will get you further in life.
The last one would be being genuine. It’s so cliche to say but people choose people they like. You won’t be for everyone but if you’re genuine, you’ll reach the people you need to reach.
My advice for anyone early in their journey that need help in developing those three attributes would be to find your “why”. Once you find your reason for doing it then it’s easier to sacrifice for your goals. The hardest part about Graduate school and entrepreneurship is that most of the people surrounding you are not going through the things you may be going through. It can begin to feel lonely. I you keep reminding yourself of why you’re doing it, it will get easier to make those sacrifices.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Honestly anyone experiencing physical pain. I have a sports background and that helps me understand and treat injuries you wouldn’t expect from a traditional chiropractor who focuses primarily on the spine. I help people who have shoulder pain, knee pain, elbow pain and ankle pain to name a few areas get back to feeling pain free. The only characteristic I need is a willingness to get better and be open to movement based treatment. If you’re looking for a holistic approach to healing, Crown Chiropractic is for you.
