Meet Marcus Johnson

We were lucky to catch up with Marcus Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Marcus with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

Well I actually got my work ethic from seeing my parents go to work everyday even sometimes they may didn’t feel like it but they never showed it. They made sure me and my sister was taking care of growing up and making sure food was on the table lights come on when we would hit the switch, pretty much making sure no care in the world growing up. I watched those things early on not knowing it instilled in me a work ethic a drive and passion to work hard to make sure my family is taken care of and showing my son the samething! Now I apply this principle in regular 9-5 job and also in my multiple businesses..

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m what you call a serial entrepreneur, I’ve learned by studying very successful business owners that has earned millions of dollars they taught me that you must have at least 7-8 streams of income providing for your household. I started applying that method and started a clothing company called Devine Souls Clothing which has been running since 2012. Then I started a catering company called A Devine Taste Catering and also A Devine Taste Snacks company, which both are doing very well. I have also taught my children on how to become business owners as well and they too have businesses. I get a thrill and passion out of business in itself because you are no longer trading time for money but you are actually get paid because you have created a solution for a problem etc. We do have some big things coming for 2026, me and my long time friend which is considered my brother we have recently partnered together on a bigger catering experience.. we are both Chefs so we thought it would be great to partner and share to the world the gift and talent God blessed us with. Stay tuned and on the look out for that in 2026!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think looking back at three things that has helped me or impacted me on this journey would be Faith, My why, and Resilience. My faith in God and my purpose that God put me here on this earth ties in together and has kept me going when things seemed at first they were going in reverse or things wasn’t working out rite to me physical eye sight but the faith I have in God help me call those things that be not as though they were. Secondly my “Why” my why or reason im doing what I’m doing is so strong even when I want to quit when times get hard I remember my why, why did I start a business in the first place and my why is my family, my wife and children and grandchildren also to make my dad proud and then to make my mother happy and proud at her son with her looking down from Heaven!! So my why keeps me going, last but not least is my Resilience to not be defeated or have the mindset of failure or defeat. We all will have obstacles and challenges but we all need to push through.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

I would say several people have been helpful to me in this journey, which would be my parents who inspired to have drive an passion, my pastor who instilled in me faith to believe in myself even when no one does and my wife to just let me know that she’s proud and she has my back
