We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Fernando Castillo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Fernando, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.
With more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Fernando began his Culinary career at the age of 20 years old when he moved from his hometown in Puebla Mexico to New York City in 2001.
Hospitality-focused, dedicated to excellence, and highly knowledgeable are just a few terms most often used to describe Fernando.
Fernando went on to build a career in hospitality, working in many kitchen positions, from server and Chef de Partie to ultimately the role of Executive Chef of a fine dining establishment in Fayetteville Arkansas.
The Skills he gained working side by side with some of the best chefs in New York City allowed him to make his jump to chef de cuisine At Theo’s Fayetteville


If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Patient, persistent and determined
