We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marquez Cohen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marquez below.
Marquez, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence and self esteem from my parents, teachers/professors and coaches. They always spoke highly of me and told me I was different, I had that “it” factor and I was special. They spoke confidence into me daily at an early age and I started to seeing it for myself as I got older. They saw potential in me before I saw it in myself and I forever be grateful for that.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Marquez Cohen, better known as Quezz,. I was born and raised in Columbus, GA. I established my own clothing line company called Quezz World in 2017 in my dorm room at Missouri Southern State University. I wanted to tell the world my story of success and the struggles that I had gone through and overcome in my life. Most importantly, I started Quezz World, so I could inspire others to believe in themselves.
I created a series of hats with each hat talking about an important time in my life.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Perseverance 2. Confidence
3. Mindset
1. It gone come a point in time when life gone throw obstacles your way but it gone be up to you to persevere through those obstacles in order to get the life that you want when you are on your journey.
2. You gone have to have confidence while you are on your journey because it not gone be easy at all. You gone have discouraging moments on your journey but your belief in yourself, your confidence and your “why” is what gone power you through your journey.
3. Your mindset is pivotal on your journey. I always say two saying which are “your life is just a printout of your mindset, so make sure you are filling it with positive thoughts.” And my other saying is “You gone talk to yourself more than you talk to anyone, so make sure you’re having positive conversations with yourself.” Everything start with your mindset
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I am very big on mental health and self care. When I am feeling overwhelmed I go workout, read a personal development book, meditate and do yoga. All of those things are very therapeutic to me and keep me cool, calm and collected.
