We were lucky to catch up with Kenya Powell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kenya, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
The reason why I am so generous is because it’s how I was raised. My mother was the most generous person I ever met.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Jane of all trades! I have a ladies boutique, pop up location, tutoring business and I host runway shows! I recently opened The KOLD Business Lounge which is a place where business can host private pop up shops to help expand their businesses.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
It’s important to take constructive criticism, be resilient and never give up! Baby steps are still steps.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My friend Fatimah Reese has been one of the most impactful people in my life. She is a true mentor and honest no matter what.
