We recently had the chance to connect with Kyra Mahoney and have shared our conversation below.
Kyra , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I would honestly say all three! But since I have to choose I would definitely say ENERGY! This is the key thing for me right now. How and who I choose to give your energy to is who important because, it can leave me feeling depleted. Being an empath I am always clocking people’s energy. If I am walking past someone on the street or even when I am deciding who to Interview, I am picking up on their Vibe. It can leave me feeling drained energetically, so I always try to keep positive energy around me always. It helps to keep be balanced.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi. I’m Kyra, the host and creator of the Vibe Selection Podcast. Vibe Selection isn’t just a Podcast- It’s a cultural conversation space that intersects spirituality and self-awareness, like tarot, intuition, and healing, with music and creative expression, alongside pop cultured modern life- including social dynamics, politics, and current conversations.
What makes it unique is how I blend all of these elements without compartmentalizing them. At its core, my brand is about helping people understand the why behind what we feel, what we consume, and what we become obsessed with- from relationships, to culture, to creativity.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My great-great- grandmother did- before I had the language for who I would become. She once told my grandmother that she knew I was going to go far in life. At the time, it was just something passed down as a story, but it stayed with me. Now, looking at where I am- building my podcast, stepping into my voice, creating something that reflects my depth and perspective – it feels like a quite validation. She saw the trajectory before I could see it for myself. I think that kind of recognition, especially coming from a woman who lived with wisdom and intuition, planted a seed. Even when I doubted myself, there was always a sense that I was meant to grow into something bigger. In many ways, I’m still honoring that vision-just now with my own awareness.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there were moments when I almost walked away- mostly during periods of creative blocks and self-doubt. I questioned the direction, logistics, and whether I could sustain it. But I always knew the idea itself was solid. What I really needed wasn’t to quit- it was to re3fine the vision. Once I did that, the passion came back stronger.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! 100% Me! Having my own podcast allows me to show up authentically, share my true thoughts, and connect with listeners in a genuine way. I don’t believe you can sustain a show, or a meaningful audience, without authentically- people can feel when something isn’t real. What makes Vibe Selection resonate isn’t just the topics I cover, but how I cover them. There are countless conversations happening around pop culture, politics, and spirituality, but listeners don’t tune in for information alone- they tune in for perspective. My Personality, my voice, and my lived experience are what shape those conversations, and that’s something I don’t separate from who I am off-mic.
If I weren’t being myself, the show wouldn’t work. My Authenticity is the Brand, and it’ what creates trust, connection, and longevity with my audience.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
That you always have to sty true to yourself and live your life by your own terms. I feel so many people get caught up in trying to appease others- by living on other’s terms and not their own. A lot of us try to play by societies rules, because we are afraid of being judged. But if they say we only have one life to live- why not live it by your own terms.
