Kristin Healy shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Kristin, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I’m most proud of building is a life where my business supports my family—not the other way around. Behind the scenes, that looks like systems, boundaries, and routines that allow me to show up fully as both a mom and a business owner. No one really sees that work, but it’s what makes everything sustainable.
When I started my photography business 5 years ago, what people saw was the final images. What they didn’t see was me building systems late at night, learning how to run a business from scratch, and figuring out how to grow sustainably while being a present mom. So I would say that the behind-the-scenes work is what I’m most proud of.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a photographer and business owner who started my brand from the ground up while being a mom (ages 10, 5 and 4). My work focuses on capturing people in a way that feels honest, timeless, and deeply human. What makes my brand special is the care I put into the experience—not just the final images, but how people feel throughout the process.
Behind the scenes, I’ve built a business rooted in trust, connection, and sustainability, allowing me to show up fully both for my clients and my family. Right now, I’m focused on continuing to grow the brand thoughtfully, taking on meaningful projects, and creating work that reflects real life—beautifully and intentionally.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me the most about work. Through example, they showed me the value of showing up, doing things the right way, and taking pride in what you build—even when no one is watching. They modeled consistency, integrity, and a strong work ethic, which shaped how I approach both my business and my life.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You can do it. Even on the days you feel unsure, overwhelmed, or out of place, you’re more capable than you realize. Trust your instincts, lean into your curiosity, and don’t be afraid to take up space.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d say family comes first, followed closely by integrity and creative fulfillment. I care deeply about doing things with intention rather than just doing more.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
Anywhere with my family—that’s where I feel most at peace.
