Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jose Flores. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jose, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Developing confidence and self-esteem is an ongoing process that requires dedication and self-awareness. Some of the strategies and actions that have helped me build my confidence and self-esteem are:
1. **My Positive self-talk:** I became mindful of my inner dialogue and replace any self-critical thoughts with positive affirmations.
2. **Setting achievable goals for myself:** I started with small, attainable goals and celebrated my achievements along the way, no matter how minor they may seem. I gradually increased the complexity of my goals as I gained confidence and momentum.
3. **I faced my fears:** I challenged myself to step out of my comfort zone. By confronting my fears and taking calculated risks, I proved to myself that I am capable of handling challenges.
4. **I recognize my strengths:** I identified my unique talents and skills. I also focus on what I do well and found ways to leverage those strengths in different areas of my life.
5. **I accepted my imperfections:** No one is perfect, and that’s okay. I embraced my flaws and understood that making mistakes is a natural part of learning and growing.
6. **I practice self-care:** Making sure that I took care of my physical and emotional well-being. Getting enough rest, eating healthily, staying active, and engaging in activities that brought me joy was huge for me.
7. **I surround myself with supportive people:** I made sure I spent time with individuals who uplift me and encourage me. Positive influences can significantly impact your confidence and self-esteem.
8. **I avoided comparison:** Instead of comparing myself to others, I focused on my own progress and growth. Everyone has their own journey, and it’s essential to acknowledge your own path.
9. **I learned from past failures:** I began to view setbacks as opportunities for learning and growth. I analyzed what went wrong, extracted the valuable lessons, and use them to improve in the future.
10. **I developed new skills:** I constantly challenged myself to learn and acquire new knowledge or abilities. Mastering new skills is.a great way to boost your self-confidence.
Remember, building confidence and self-esteem takes time, patience, and consistent effort. Celebrate the progress you make, no matter how small, and be kind to yourself throughout the process.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three of the most impactful qualities that I think were most important on my journey have probably been connecting and engaging with the audience by touching their hearts, learning about the power of leverage, and building strong relationships. My advice to anyone looking to become a professional paid speaker would be, the faster you can learn these three things, the faster you will be well on your way to a successful speaking career.
Touching hearts requires you to be genuine and authentic. Learning the power of leverage: Leveraging your time, gifts, resources, and relationships can many times help you skip some of the steps and get you closer to your desired result. Remember, you can never skip the process. Building strong relationships means always leading with value. Meaning don’t go into any relationship with the mindset that says, “What’s in it for me?” Rather, go into it with the mindset that say, “How can I add value to you” or “How can I serve you”? Do these two this and your relationships will many times turn into life-long friendships
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My mentor the Great Les Brown aka (Pops) has been a major part of not only my success, but in my life as a whole. He pours himself out to others like none other and I’ve happened to be one of the blessed ones to build a strong relationship and friendship with him. He has taught me how to master the game of public speaking and storytelling. He has also definitely help me to develop the essential skills, qualities, and knowledge to become successful in my field.
