Meet Diana Skenderovic

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diana Skenderovic. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diana below.

Hi Diana , so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?

As an entrepreneur, self-care is a non-negotiable part of how I run my business. I’m intentional about protecting my energy—maintaining structure in my day, building in moments to reset, and knowing when to step back so I can think strategically instead of reactively.
I also prioritize rest and mental clarity, because decision-making is at the core of entrepreneurship.
The impact has been powerful. When I take care of myself, I lead with greater focus, creativity, and confidence. It allows me to make better decisions, avoid burnout, and sustain long-term growth. Self-care ultimately makes me a more effective entrepreneur and a stronger leader for my business and my family.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

With over 20 years of experience in the events industry, I have built a career rooted in creativity, precision, and storytelling through design. My background spans large-scale productions, intimate celebrations, and complex logistics—experience that has shaped my ability to transform concepts into immersive, memorable experiences.
Seven years ago, I took the leap into entrepreneurship, launching my own event design business with a clear vision: to create events that feel intentional, elevated, and deeply personal. As a business owner, I blend creative direction with strategic leadership, overseeing every detail from concept development to execution. My years in the industry have taught me not only how to design beautiful events, but how to lead teams, manage pressure, and consistently deliver excellence. Today, my work reflects both my experience and my belief that thoughtful design has the power to connect people and create lasting impact.
I remain deeply inspired by the people behind each celebration. I’m most excited by meeting new clients and pushing beyond traditional boundaries—listening to their stories and translating them into designs that feel fresh, unexpected, and deeply personal. Going outside the box allows me to continuously evolve creatively while delivering experiences that feel thoughtful, elevated, and unforgettable.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three things stand out as the most impactful in my journey. First is creative vision paired with adaptability—the ability to think outside the box while staying flexible in an ever-changing industry. Second is relationship-building. Connecting with clients, vendors, and teams has been foundational to my growth and reputation, and it’s what allows each event to feel truly collaborative and personal. Third is business and leadership acumen. Stepping into entrepreneurship required learning how to balance creativity with strategy, manage pressure, and make confident decisions—skills that ultimately allowed my business to grow sustainably and with intention.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to be intentional about developing both your craft and your mindset. Nurture your creative voice, but don’t be afraid to experiment or fail—growth comes from trying what hasn’t been done before. At the same time, learn to stay adaptable, because flexibility is just as important as vision in a fast-moving industry.
Invest in relationships early. Listen more than you speak, show up consistently, and treat every collaboration with care. The trust you build will become one of your most valuable assets.
Finally, learn the business side of what you love. Understanding pricing, boundaries, leadership, and decision-making will protect your creativity rather than limit it. When you pair strong creative skills with solid business knowledge, you set yourself up for longevity, confidence, and sustainable success.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

One book that has played an important role in my personal and professional development is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. One of the most valuable lessons I took from it was the importance of staying present—especially in high-pressure environments. In an industry where timelines are tight and expectations are high, learning to focus on the moment rather than the noise of what’s next has helped me lead with greater clarity, patience, and intention. It has also reinforced the value of grounding myself before making decisions, allowing me to respond thoughtfully rather than reactively.
