Adri Leyva’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Adri Leyva. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Adri, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I find that I am being called to step into more of an educator role when it comes to the art of tarot as well as other magickal areas. I have spent, and still spend a lot of my time learning and growing in my practice of divination, Reiki, as well as other areas of spirituality. Now I find that individuals often ask me to help them grow in their own practices. Another thing that I have been doing this past year is teaching classes at Mystique Moon here in town. This is something I never thought I would be doing a few years ago, and it has really helped me push past the personal boundaries where I was holding myself back.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Adri and I am the owner of Tarot with Adri located in San Antonio, TX. I am a Biddy Tarot Certified Advisor, Reiki Practitioner, and Witch. When it comes to spiritual services, I specialize in Tarot, Oracle, Pendulum, Reiki, and spell work. I offer these services in both virtual or in a in-person setting. I help teach a variety of classes at Mystique Moon, where we offer make and takes, were you can make different things such as spell jars, money rice, and even broom making. I’m at Mystique Moon every Saturday offering Tarot and other spiritual services. Additionally, I offer Witchy Wednesday 101 classes which has really helped in creating community at the shop. Occasionally, I can be found haunting Downtown San Antonio at Bad Wolf Occult Shop where I offer Tarot. I also collaborate with Altar Tattoo Studio in Old Town Helotes to create one of a kind tattoos, based on a clients reading. However, the thing that I’m the most proud of are my Tarot for the Community events. This is where I have to opportunity to help give back to my community by partnering with a local food pantry or non-profit. I offer a night of donation based virtual tarot readings where 100% goes to whoever we are supporting for that event. Ultimately, my goal to help improve the community, whether it is through a spiritual service or monetary donations. Community is very important to me.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I was brought up in a Catholic household that really shaped my worldview when I was young. I always felt that I had to be small, not in a physical sense, but just as a person; that I could not sick out or shine too brightly. I needed to fit the mold and if I didn’t get in line, I would find myself abandoned. Over time, I learned to find my authentic self and begin to step into the person I am now. One who is not afraid to stick out, one who is satisfied with all of my wonderfully weird flaws, who is not afraid to keep learning and growing. I have learned to love myself for who I truly am, even if it doesn’t always fit the norm.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I wish I could tell myself that people will try to mold you into who they want you to be. However, in order to be happy, you need to live for yourself. You can listen to people’s advice, but you don’t always have to follow it. Do not be afraid to do what makes you happy and seek out the things that bring you joy, because you control your own happiness. Don’t always feel that you have to seek validation from others. That’s what I would tell myself, because I spent way too many years as a people pleaser and always chasing happiness that I thought that I could only find through others. Now I know that the only person whose opinion matters is my own.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say yes. Personally, with my ADHD, it would be hard to keep track of anything false! Of course, there are things that I don’t share with my public platforms, mostly because I don’t think people would care about how many miles I ran or what my hyperfixation of the week is. But when it comes to tarot and my spirituality, this is who I am and I carry it with me always.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I would like to think that my customers would miss my daily readings. I post a tarot reading in my Instagram stories every morning and it’s always such an honor to get messages from individuals who the reading resonated with. Sometimes, that little message is what someone may need to help get them through the day and I think it would be missed.
