Aevin Kumar on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Aevin Kumar. Check out our conversation below.

Aevin , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I believe I am being called to step into a new creative chapter, one thats different from what I’ve known. I’ve been called to further pursue my passion for interior design, Before, I might have been afraid of letting go of something successful to make room for what’s next. Now, I see that growth often requires release. As I move forward, I realize I’m being called to embrace new beginnings, as I spend this next year completing my Bachelors of Interior Design degree and taking on new opportunities. Just like when I started Coffee Craze Company at 16, I’m ready to take that leap again and have come to the bittersweet decision close Coffee Craze Company.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Aevin Kumar, founder and CEO of Coffee Craze Company. I started this business in 2021 while still in high school, driven by a growing passion for coffee and a desire to learn about entrepreneurship. What began as a small idea quickly turned into a journey of growth, creativity and determination. Through hard work and collaboration with our local coffee roaster, I built a brand focused on premium coffee blends with unique combinations of beans from major coffee growing regions. Over the years, Coffee Craze Company expanded from two original products to a full collection, along with collaborations in glassware and candles, along with creating my own coffee recipe book.

As Coffee Craze Company comes to a close at the end of this year, I’m excited to begin a new chapter, pursing a career in Interior Design after graduating with my Bachelor of Interior Design. This next step will allow me to continue growing creatively and exploring new opportunities.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
It’s hard to remember my earliest memory of feeling powerful, but one moment that stands out is when I started Coffee Craze Company. At a young age, taking the leap to build something from the ground up gave me a sense of confidence and independence I hadn’t felt before. Creating something of my own, making decisions, leading, and watching my ideas come to life was empowering in a way that shaped how I see myself today. It taught me that power doesn’t always come from authority or experience, but from courage, creativity, and the willingness to take a risk on yourself.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be, trust yourself and your instincts and don’t be afraid of what anyone has to say. It’s a reminder that growth comes from trusting yourself, taking some bold steps and embracing uncertainty. Every risk is an opportunity to learn and that’s a big lesson I learned from the past four years of running Coffee Craze Company.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is the real me, it’s just a small part of who I am. It’s how I choose to represent myself, my passions, achievement and ideas I want to share. The real me also includes the behind the scenes moments of doubts and struggles that shape how I grow and make decisions. I don’t share everything publicly, and I’m okay with that. As the founder, I try to be transparent in moments that matter but at my core, I’m a private person online, It’s not the full story, but parts of me I choose to show. I think behind it all, theres more depth, growth and experience that I keep for myself, and that’s part of being true to who I am.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Without a doubt, yes. I believe in giving my best even when no one is watching or praising me. I want to give my best for me in anything that I commit to doing. Frankly, I’ve never got the praises for everything that I’ve done or the decisions I made and that’s okay. I don’t need validation to know my value.
I think recognition is wonderful but real reward is knowing I gave it my all, it’s the same mindset that guided me when starting Coffee Craze Company, late nights, challenges and small wins that no one else noticed but meant a lot to me. I’ve learned to stay true myself, put in the work and create things that I’m proud of.
